Just pointed out that I'd heard all of that twaddle before and that was exactly what I had expected from Junior.

Sorry JGF - they're not a top club. They are in League One and there for a reason. Leeds Utd were just he same. Historically "big clubs" but when they both went down to League One both clubs forfeited that - top clubs stay top.

Leeds have got themselves back up there and all credit to them, but they can only regain that classification if they stay there. Sunderland don't "deserve" anything - they'll have to earn it and good luck to Johnson in that task.

His real abiltiy will now be tested and I doubt he'll get the undying support of the owner for 4 years. Cotterill got you up and Johnson kept you there but could do no more than that. First he's got to turn Sunderland around and get out of the basement Leagues - then we'll see whether he's gets the Messiah tag that he seems to want.

    ........... but never full!
Whatever way you look at it should they get to championship in 2 seasons and finish near top of it [ top8 ] in first season! LEE will be a marked man! any prem club in bottom 10 or 12 needing a manager could easily be putting him on their short list.
be interesting to see who his backroom staff will be!

Yes but attendances rose after Lee completed a whole season too and continued to rise.

Course they did. Why wouldnt they?? The ground during cotterills season wasn’t big enough. What club has not seen attendances rise after a redevelopment any?? Hundred million?? spent on ground and team attendances should rise

Don't split hairs JGF - they are not a "Top club" now and will need to prove it again however many they get through the doors.

But Wiz’s comments could have given the impression that attendances were falling due to people not attending because of LJ.
That may be true of a few making a protest, but far more people started coming that weren’t coming before.
Of course that wasn’t only because of LJ - but they weren’t put off by him either.

I never mentioned he caused falling gates, I was explaining how I thought he split our fan base with his waffle and playing style and how people like me stopped attending football matches rather than waste our money on boredom. Personally I want our club to thrive, the more people that attend the happier I am as it obviously benefits our club.

Helps fit the haters cause, like saying he took us just a few places up the league....no mention of saving us from relegation from the fans favourite!!
Also. all this identity stuff......Cotts couldn't & wouldn't change his when results went $hit.....but when LJ came away from "The identity" :emoticon-0125-mmm: when things wasn't working he gets slaughtered.......................Oh the hatred!! :emoticon-0104-surpr
Anyway he's got himself a decent job unpredictably by the few and at some point of course it will end in tears (whenever that will be) as all managers jobs,,,,,and I say good luck to him!!

You said wizs statement was accurate!! We all know fans who go less now or stop but it would be fkn amazing if crowds hadn’t increased considering how much Steve Lansdown has chucked into the club.!! I know people who didn’t go at all before 2017 who bought season tickets. Does any club see gates dropping after a redevelopment like this?? As far as I can see no they all get a upturn like City have or more. That’s the modern football family experience effect not the messiah of Lj.

God help us with this hero worship, I don't hate Johnson, he failed in his mission, he had every opportunity and he wasn't up to the task, he was sacked, terminated, booted out by the owners of Bristol Cty FC because he had reached his capability maximum, team and fan morale was at a vey low level, the future was looking disastrous, SL, JL and MA made the decision for practical business reasons.

I hope the guy earns a good life and future at Sunderland, what he does in life has no consequence to me, I honestly couldn't care less, I am glad he's gone.

I 've agreed not top but BIG, a difference .. gates of 30k + is more money than we get and I bet their ST is Cardiff and city combined … or close! We have similar ave gates Cardiff 20,780 Bristol 21 080 a mere 10,000 less than a div 1 club!
