Pigott scores more goals than Bogle, so I would have him. Hoping for better in the January transfer window.
My QPR pal tells me that they want to recall Paul Smyth in January & sell him for a nominal fee before his contract expires. Wycombe Wanderers want him - I think he worked with Gareth Ainsworth before. Smyth hasn’t showed enough for us to suggest he’s worth keeping, and he’s out for a month now anyway. We badly need to sign two decent strikers in January. Thankfully, Sandgaard knows it.
I posted at the time we signed him that Washington is a 4th choice striker - a bench option. Aneke is clearly never going to fit enough for long enough to rely on. We need 2 strikers who can come in & start games & score goals.
Depends on the question.... the Pig will score goals in L1, in the Champ who knows but he can in L1 ... nobody was sure about Lyle Taylor but that worked out OK (except for final 4 months) and the Pig will not be expensive I guess!
2018– AFC Wimbledon 106 appearances 34 goals that is a pretty good scoring ratio nearly one in three. That is good going. I would settle for that in League one.
Pigott always looked a natural goalscorer in the U-23's, buthad a nightmare debut against Millwall, when he clearly had stage fright and seemed to lose coordination. I've had stage fright and could empathise, but for fans seeing him for the first time it was not a pretty sight. He never really recovered from this and had to leave the club in everyone's interest. I'm delighted to see that he's scoring goals again after that experience, and I would much rather have him than Bogle. That's not to say his game had no weaknesses, for one thing he couldn't jump, but he has a good striker's shot and an eye for goal. That doesn't mean he'd score many for us, not with our midfield performing the way they have been.
How is the North African lad in the under-23s (don't have time to check his name) coming along? He seems to be a finisher so could he be the answer?
Ghandour .... Landlord, he is making his way back from a long term injury, doubt if he will be fully match fit till after Christmas
This game will tell us a lot about how the Jonny Williams debacle has affected morale. Will our midfielders stop "hiding from the ball"? If they don't we'll carry on down the slippery slope, and I wonder if this is also one reason why we get so many injuries. If the players don't know how to find space, or can't be bothered, (which is it?) there are always going to be more 50/50's, which we seem to lose nahadays. When TS joined the commentary box he said the midfield "needed to show more", so he knows his stuff, and it's still happening. With Williams now on the Naughty Chair, Madison "ill", Doughty and Smyth injured and Morgan less attack-minded, the only way I can see us getting 3 points is what I predicted for Saturday, which we nearly got away with, ie keep it at 0-0 and hope the subs can get us a goal in the last 30 minutes, maybe from a set-piece.
The other possibility is that players will feel they have to be flying in to tackles to keep the boss happy, and we end up with 10 men.
This is quite a big game now, and a possible fork in the road in our season. Win, and we will be back on track and probably in the Top 3. I have seen various reports since Saturday that it’s not a happy camp, but no real way of knowing how much truth there is in this. One thing is for sure, digging out your players in public only works a certain amount of times.
WE'll know on Saturday if it's a happy camp, like the last 2 home games of pardew's reign, where you could tell, or the infamous Wycombe game under Uncle Les.
