Sorry Lovenkrands, just no. It isn't a waiting game for you. You are not good enough for the EPL, you never have been, and scoring goals against CC and L1 sides doesn't make you good enough. Everytime you come on the pitch, you suck. You're 31 now and after years of trying I don't think you're ever going to break out of that mould.

I'm sure you're a lovely bloke, but as far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't be anywhere NEAR the starting line-up if we ever want to progress.

If the worst were to happen and I had to pick between him and the bamby-esque shola though... I'd just send 10 men out and not have a recognized striker on the pitch!

  3. I'd rather keep Lover than Shola tbh, but still i agree. We should get rid of these two and buy two quality strikers.

I don't mind him so much as a back-up striker in times of emergencies, but the mere NOTION that this man could possibly force his way into the starting line-up based on some thinly veiled merit is just beyond comprehension.

If Shola can start games surely Loven can <laugh>

Seriously though I'd rather he was saying things like this than sitting on the bench happily accepting his pay cheque, our players actually want to play now.

I'm sure Lovenkrands is aware of his role and position in the pecking order at the club.

Don't forget that he was released at the end of a season and when NUFC couldn't find anyone else he was suddenly brought back in to the club.

He's solely a back up in case of injuries.

This, but I would just buy the one striker. This would allow one of the young ones the place as our 4th striker, plus we could play HBA, Marveaux or Obertan off a single forward if required.

Imagine if we started, in the Premier League...Shola, Lovenkrands, Smith and Perch! In a single game!

The opposition would burst their sides laughing and we'd walk it!

I think this is a bit harsh on Lovenkrands. Just because he's not up to standard doesn't mean he can't have the right attitude (which is what this article suggests), mainly:

    - he's always gonna try his hardest
    - he's happy to sit on the sidelines, try hard, and try to grab any opportunity he gets
    - he wants to play first team football as much as he can but understands that won't be possible unless he can play better than those already in the team
    - as long as the team are winning, he is happy and understands the managers choices.

Fair play if you ask me. He's done nothing but be professional and put the effort in since coming to the club, did brilliantly for us in the relegation season despite the circumstances, and the championship, and it's not his fault he's rubbish, it's the manager's fault for picking him if we don't agree he's good enough to play.

So leave off the fella, I wish all players had this attitude regardless of ability. Imagine if Ranger had this attitude - we might not evem need to play Lover if he did!

The only reason I don't like this mentality is because Pardew is stupid enough to choose him just to keep everyone happy.

I'd rather Lovenkrands just didn't try, for the sake of all of us.

ha ha! We already have the "be rubbish and don't try" striker role covered at the club....

  13. Lover isn't such a bad player if he's given a more involved role. His passing and link up play with the team is good. It's just if he's played as a striker, he's going to get raped by almost all CB's.

Play him in a free role or as an attacking mid, and you'll get the best from him.

He's average at best, but he's still got something to offer and much more than Shola. I could see Lover coming on as an impact sub as an attacking mid and doing some teams some damage.

I like Lover, he is a trier and model professional. But his ability to play at this level went some time ago. Sell him and Shola for me, bring in one quality striker. We then have the likes of Sammy/JJ Hooper to provide the 4th option. (I nearly mentioned Ranger but then remembered we still don't know if he has been charged)

  15. I don't know why no CC clubs have come in for Shola or Lover.

Shola had like a 11 in 11 record in the CC, and Lover got 13 CC goals in around half a seasons games.

    Decent talleys.

free role <laugh> you know who plays in free roles, the best players, because they can wander about the pitch and whatever they decide to do works, because they're exceptional. Lovenkrands is hardy exceptional.

He was good in the championship at playing off the shoulder of the last defender, and that's about it.

Whenever it's feasible to play Lovenkrands, in whatever position, i'd argue that we'd be better off putting Sammeobi on instead

Lovenkrands is ****e, weak on the ball, never challanges a header etc....we need to get rid of ameobi and lovenkrands and buy a really good proven striker and maybe a good young striker with great potential.

yes Lovenkrands got a brace but one was put on a plate for him by an excellent cross and the other was a pen...hardly worth bragging about....

normally he's slightly off the pace and too slow to get on the end of them by a fraction (happened loads last season - particularily from Enrique's crosses)

It's the right noises given that we're months from a transfer window, but I think deep down he'll know 31 is not the right age to play the waiting game.

In other news, Kuqi scored again last night.

Exactly, I dont see what he brings to the game anymore, i thank him for what he has done but its time for him to go along with perch, smith and ameobi....
