As soon as the clock hits 2pm the tone will be set. If it's a midfield of Leadbitter Power Scowen infront of the back 5 then itll dampen the mood. Surely Taylor knows he has to sacrifice a DM for an attacking player. Presuming everyone is fit I'd go

    ----‐------------------Burge
    ----McLaughlin Wright Flanagan---
    Sanderson-----Leadbitter---------Hume---
    ---------------Scowen---Embleton---‐---------
    ------------------‐----Maguire-----------------------
    -------------------------Wyke---------------------------

I'd go along with that - but Power did score, so he might be preferred. As long as it's not Power & Dobson in the middle I'm happy.
Is there any news on Wyke's injury? - his knee was swollen on Tuesday night and he didn't look too good.

Wigan have the worst record of away goals scored according to the EFL show on sky. Hopefully that is not a kiss of death.

5-4-1 at home to Burton FFS, need to up the tempo and press higher up the pitch, especially at home, absolutely no doubt they'd have been booed off on Tuesday night.

Not sure what team I would send out tbh but a back four with two up front is a must . Pace must be added to the formation, and team selection is vital, that we will miss O/9 more than Wyke goes without saying. We also need a bench with alternatives, not just replacements, and these should be used, starting at half time if necessary, to induce better first half performances from the serial slow starters, cameo roles are not enough, that is becoming increasingly clear as the season unfolds, and time is not on our side, over to you Mr Taylor.

Wyke out, the 2 G's both utter utter f*cking w*nk. We are playing the bottom team. Stick the bairns in. We might get beat but at least there would be effort. Guess what we also might get a comfortable win with players wanting to give their all for SAFC. It is impossible to be worse than the last 3 games.

Sunderland AFC will be without Luke O’Nien and Charlie Wyke this weekend, but Aiden McGeady will return to the matchday squad.

Both O’Nien and Wyke were forced off during Tuesday night’s stalemate against Burton Albion, with O’Nien expected to be out until the New Year after dislocating his shoulder.

The wing back will undergo further tests in the next week to determine the full extent of the injury, but he is likely to miss an extended period of time.

The Lads’ top scorer, Wyke, suffered no long-term damage to his knee following an impact injury against the Brewers, but this weekend’s match-up against Wigan Athletic is likely to come too soon.

Aiden O’Brien is also a doubt due to an ongoing ankle problem, but McGeady will return to the matchday squad for the first time since November 2019.

Not at all bothered about the doubt regarding O'Briens fitness. Question is who replaces Charlie Boy. We are spoiled for choice with Graham & Grigg. ****ing Hell........................

Graham and Grigg the G force mark two. Grigg has looked as good as anybody up there this season imo but Graham does look the slowest of the three, if they dont click I would get Curry on for one of them at half time. Cue a joke <laugh>

If McGeady is going to be involved that suggests we'll see a different team to the one that Parky Lite put out last game. Seems like the new blokes are having an influence already.

I'm looking forward to it, there'll be an optimistic vibe on match day.

When we play Wigan I always remember 2004, Division1, late August and about 5 games in. Wigan are flying at the top, we are around 16th. About to play Wigan at home, and Mick McCarthy says the game is a great opportunity to assess our progress. Measuring ourselves against Wigan, and we are the home team? Just how low can we fall I thought? Little did we know........
... but thats gone todays the day we finally get a 6-0 !
