Of the thousands of coffee shops in Bromley I always head for Prets and have a White filter.
Nothing fancy, just straightforward, like the good old days before you were asked multiple questions when ordering.

Most Coffee shops are a rip off, the big companies like Starbucks, Costa etc charge a fortune for froth.
I like small individual coffee shops.

Never been much of a coffee drinker.
I've always thought coffee smells much nicer than it actually tastes.

Occasionally I'll drink black coffee after working all night. But that hardly happens anymore (I'm too old for that lark nowadays).
Never bought a coffee from a coffee shop in my life.
I've heard they are way too expensive.
Prefer a cup of tea myself.

You can pay touching £4 in some places.
I always loved coffee ice cream as a kid. A shame supermarkets don't do it now.
As for tea, it's the most refreshing drink of the day.

I remember coffee flavoured ice cream.
Ice cream however is something else I rarely buy now. A bit surprised to hear you can't get coffee ice cream anymore.

    Spot on @dick plumb

But there are increasingly few of these around in London. One of life’s consistent pleasures is a good coffee & a smoke.

Apart from the Greasy Spoon cafe the tea in most places is pisswater.

Totally with you on this. I love the smell of fresh ground coffee but the taste always disappoints.

Moringa tea, green tea or ginger tea for me.

When ordering a tea from a tea van or alike , I always like to ask what I get in return for upgrading my tea into a large tea when asked , most of the time they are too embarrassed to say “more hot water”

I like a cup of Earl Gray; has an equally subtle aroma and flavour.
But I also love any decent mug of normal 'English' tea as long as it's not too weak (but not over-stewed) and has just a little milk.
Ginger tea makes a nice change too occasionally.

No sugar though, in any brew for me.
I used to take two, but many years ago at work once we ran out of sugar, and didn't get any in for about a week.
During that time we still drank our tea without it. And I found the first time I put any sugar back in my tea it was suddenly far to sweet to enjoy.
    Never taken sugar since.

A civilised start to the day.

A coffee & a cigar in West London.

Impressed, not jealous. I lived in the tropics too long, I don't like cold mornings.

Both my pub and my lighting supply business are closed. The lighting supplies specialist markets and my customers cannot gain access to sites. So my mornings consist of reading the news and testing my blood pressure.

A delicious Montecristo No.4 with this morning’s coffee. Total cost of breakfast. £20.40.

@Horrendous Hairpiece you are doing your best to prop up the service economy almost single-handed. Got to admire that <applause>

    Cheers lardi.

I like to do my best to support the wonderful independent coffee shops of London during this difficult time for them.
Their coffee is a little expensive at £3 a cup, but it is worth it to see the happiness on the hard pressed staff’s faces when I appear in their doorway each morning.

This particular cafe is French, and it’s staffed by an eclectic mix of young European ladies.

So not only am I supporting a local business, I am also doing my bit for Anglo - EU relations, post Brexit.
