You haven’t read it properly then. Unless a dozen people on here are reading each other’s minds and coming up with the name Dodds.
Your right....these chancers wouldn't have the first clue how to recruit staff to key positions. You only have to look how they dismantled the academy system despite spouting other. The real shame is that a competent owner. any competent owner, on the acquisition of the club would never have employed the likes of Richard Hill or Tony Coton in the first instance unless they too were clue less.. Until these past couple of days when things seem to have dramatically changed, we are now seeing and unfortunately reaping the result of their recruitment policy across all footballing aspects of the Club
This just gets better and better! For once, we seem to have a professional approach to our recruiting and structure building.
I recall that Wakeham was no better than average for Sunderland and was transferred out. I can’t remember what club he went to but later we played them at Roker Park. It was towards the end of a season and as usual we were desperate for points to either get promotion or avoid relegation - promotion this time I think- and he played a blinder. We peppered his goal with shots on target, I think every team member had a shot, but he kept everything out. Then Harry Hooper, who was out of favour at the time having ballooned in weight, was brought on. We got a free kick and Hooper took it and scored a great goal. That was Hoopers last appearance for us. Ended up in non-league. Waste of a great talent.
How many PL managers play entertaining football. Not at Arsenal, Fulham, Sheff Utd, Burnley, West Brom, Newcastle and that's just off the top of my head. Pragmatism is what it's all about if you don't have a chance of the title. Ashley knows that and he's done a fantastic job up there imo.
Think Wakeham went to Charlton....don't remember the match you mention, but I do remember Hooper was Cloughies favourite provider of crosses. Great times for us mate.
Should we expect a manager tomorrow does anyone know? Sorry not had a chance to read what I’ve missed.
Sorry. He wasn’t “brought on” he started for the first time that season. Everyone was complaining that he wasn’t being used, but when we saw him we understood. Grossly overweight.
You got me thinking now mate. And to be honest I'm really struggling to come up with any names. Maybe a bit idealistic but with the talk of a new progressive structure at the club I would love us to unearth a young manager in the mould of Eddie Howe or Graham Potter. Someone relatively unknown who can bring a style to the club and take us up through the leagues. Like I say probably a pipe dream but nowt wrong with dreaming. Other clubs have done it why can't it be our turn.
I think thats very true in the Premier League. But a few clubs have done it in style going up the leagues Bournemouth, Swansea, Leeds (eventually) Like I said before maybe its a dream but why can't it be us next
