He must be bringing the youth talent through and then overseeing their sale to bigger clubs. Birmingham currently lying 18th in the championship.
Will he not have been the guy responsible for finding Jude Bellingham? Hell of a find that, would have thought he would have been academy manager rather than the man running the show for KLD and JS though
I think it bodes well that we’ve managed to get this guy. He’s been at brum for 14 years. Also responsible for some good youths coming through. Solid appointment imo.
I’m very happy, he seems qualified for the role, and if his focus is youth, even better. It what’s we need to do with the facilities available.
Surely the manager is a starting point for everything on the playing side of the club? Yes there are factors that are outside of his control but if he has the backing of the fans and the players have faith in the way he wants them to play then that should count for something. Yes a big name doesn't guarantee anything but like I said previously, it would galvanise the fans and the club. Look at the response when Parkinson was appointed - no one was that bothered that he was given the job and most (myself included) had other names in mind that they preferred for the job. Yeah, its a fine line to get everything pointing in the right direction but surely if you appoint a manager that ignites both the fans and the players imaginations that can only be a good thing. And as for Zindane, maybe all we have to do is wait for a few weeks and he might be available!
On here mate no one actually said it was definitely him, we all said it was rumour nothing more then that I’ve been saying weeks I don’t know who it’s going to be
No doubt he’d be comfortable in the role but he’s spent 14 years as part of the fabric of Birmingham FC helping stabilise them as a mid table championship club. Should we really be happy with that?
Looks a solid appointment. Never heard of him but seems well respected. Fantastic background developing and spotting young talent If we are going the DOF route would like to see someone in with European experience and contacts. Lets wait and see the full picture
Look at the players he has helped bring through. Its not all about where that team finished. They have also had a rough time of it over the last decade with ownership etc
I disagree about him being the most influential. He is a mouthpiece who believes himself to be the most influential. But IMO there is a lot of smoke and mirrors involved. From your posts you don't seem happy that there will be a change at the club which is your opinion. I believe that there has to be a certain period of transition which has to happen. If CM manages to keep his mouth shut he may survive that but I believe the fans distrust of him and SD will see them made small voices in a much changed club. I also you mention JS as being here for a while and not changing anything and to be fair there is truth in that but you have to be fair in that he and SD fell out earlier this year which by all accounts was about how he ran the club and the direction it was going. Would you have been giving him or Madrox money after that
