Perhaps we need to get away from the idea of billionaire owners and throwing money at everything. If that was the answer then the top of the premier league would be very congested given the amount of clubs that have tried it, and failed. We need to look at what a football club is all about, for me it is part of a community, it carries peoples hopes and dreams and hopefully reflects that community. Like it or not Sunderland, and its surrounding areas, is predominantly a working class area where people get on by hard work. Recently SAFC has been occupied by champagne Charlies, pun not intended, who do not reflect the area and as a consequence has lost some of its identity and connection to the area. Perhaps its time for SAFC to get their heads down, do the hard work and put down solid foundations so that the football club and the area can move forward, all be it slowly at first. If the club can show that there is a plan I think supporters will get on board and buy into it. Or put it another way I'm just sick of lurching from one problem to the next one, lets at least try to sort it out. On reflection I can't quite believe that I've written that load of twaddle but it's just how I feel at the moment. Ah well tin hat on, let the kicking begin.
Because we cant throw money at the first team I am welcoming a billionaire to throw as much money as possible to all other areas of the club, more so the Academy...Spend a kings ransom on the best people we can get in every area of the Academy and the Future of Sunderland would be very bright
I think we would all settle for a stable well run club with a team that plays nice entertaining football. It’s not a lot to ask is it? I can live without trophies and playing in Europe every year as long as I’m not subjected to abject performances week in week out.
As much as your right, this is the bare minimum (in my opinion) needed. We have the infrastructure of a top 6 premier league club.....with (in my opinion again) potential to take off and explode...I want trophies and european football.......Sunderland City have ****ed about for 20 odd years since VAUX went but its taking off big style...the club should follow suit and bring everything concerned with Sunderland into the 21st century
This is what we all want mate. After being served years of dross and false promises then a stable well run club would be heaven.
Whoever we get in as Manager/Head coach has a massive job on his hands. Do the players just need an arm around them and a confidence boost or can they be coached to a better level? I’d like to think there’s a decent player in most of them but judging by what I’m watching every week I think most are at their level now and recruitment might be our only option.
I can agree with that, far too much money has disappeared into players and agents pockets, who had no connection to the area, never to see the light of day again. If money was invested initially in the Academy but then into the stadium and surrounding areas that could provide links to the community so much the better.
Re: Lee Johnson who seems to be picking up traction. I already know the majority of fans will turn their nose up at him but he's spent the last 4 years managing a Championship club. He's hardly exciting but he's not necessarily another Parkinson.
