Exactly. We can all look at any manager and point out their strong points or supposed strengths. If cowley is so good why aren’t premier league clubs or more championship clubs after him.

If there's good news today, will go hand in hand with the vaccine news. Makes our return to the SOL quicker, also our pre match piss up closer to reality. Potential for an excellent day today, in what are really dark times, hopefully normalisation is just around the corner.

Because fans want a big name regardless of how well suited they are to a job

You are absolutely obsessed with Cowley. Yeah he did a good job at Lincoln I get it but they are a club with no expectations or pressure on the manager at all. So he went to a slightly bigger club and how long did he last? We are Sunderland for Christ sake, one of the biggest clubs in England. It might work out well but it’s equally likely to go pear shaped. Lets show ambition go for a manager who has experience in being successful in the championship- pearson

If you are thinking clear now can you really imagine any top managers wanting to take on that team in div 3 even if they were offered a million a month, no I can’t either it would be the end of their careers, the saying is you can’t polish a turd well the new lad will be polishing the squits

why did he leave Huddersfield? Was it not because the board disagreed with his ideas or something?

I think looking at where they were when he took over and where he left them, he actually did alright.

I still don’t really want him like.

I'm not obsessed with him. I just think he's an excellent choice. I would be excited by Lee Johnson although I know less about him. What I am, is dismayed at the clamour for a 'name' for the sake of it.

Not desperate at all mate watched them take Lincoln on a roller coaster ride upwards not like Gus downwards.

After thinking about it I had talked myself into being excited about Gus returning mainly due to his record with Brighton, the good times of the cup run, and the nice football we played at times.
There were undoubtedly negatives too and I think a lot of the reaction has been a bit over the top. I'd have expected that level of disappointment if it was the return of Big Sam or someone who didn't really leave when we were on the decline.
I'm usually an optimist and would be pretty happy with the Cowleys - they were still highly regarded by many Huddersfield fans and prior to that they were the new upcoming thing. If they fit into the new structure then I think it can only be a positive appointment - the key is seeing what that structure is and who takes the other positions before we can judge it fully I think.

Well, that's what I think about people who want Pearson or Allardyce. Where's the excitement in some old boy who's just here for the cash?

They only interviewed 3 initially, Poyet, Cowley and Johnson. Got told Johnson was out of the running and it was between the other two but no decision made. This was all prior to it all kicking off yesterday so I assume they chose to go with Poyet then whatever happened, happened.
