Who knows what exactly went on mate. It's a shame like. He was expected to be the man mind. Looks like we have moved on now though.

Because it's come from Gus himself to save face. Just a token statement.

Sartori would believe he could take the word of Poyet.

Thing is, I watched his Pod yesterday off a couple of months ago and he made a point that he wasnt looking for a club or a club in a top league...he was looking for the right people to work with...Obviously the ideal employer for him to work for would have been Sartori but the DOF may have been the reason to turn it down without a doubt

Was it Bob that messaged you or does he have the same source. He reckons DOF and manager today, they have moved quickly if that is the case

Thought the clearing of the dead wood was always the responsibility of the old regeme so the new owner's wherent sullied with all the mess?

  10. Well,if that's what happened, blisteringly naive is what it is. Can't believe an experienced businessman with deals going on in a variety of countries over many years would get himself into that position......mate or no mate.

As we know the world of Football moves fast, I think (I know its not the Sunderland way) that we would have had a plan B - C and D for these appointments especially if the new regime is making these calls......If you can sign half a dozen players in the last hour of the transfer window I would like to think any appointment as major as a manager we would have done major due diligence on.........of course this is Sunderland though

I wouldnt have thought we started looking the minute after PP was sacked

  13. Agree. You'd have thought, and I think we all believed, that the key appointments had all been sorted, with, you would assume, water-tight contracts signed and sealed.
When we heard the news of PP departure,we can be forgiven for thinking that was the first step in an already agreed programme.
I'm forgetting that this is SAFC and the normal rules of logic and common sense simply don't apply to us!

This club really tugs at your heart, if what daft Bob said over the road that a new manager and dof to be announced today is correct is there a chance it’ll be someone not mentioned yet. Let’s face it the club over the past year has done a very good job of hiding the new owners names, could we see a surprise appointment.

He went from being a translator to coach to manager. He's still referred to as the translator at Barcelona. He had to show ability and thats what counted. Not where he'd been before. He built a reputation as the Cowleys are doing. Of course, it makes complete sense that managers who have established a team in League 1 and were then taken on by a team in the division above aren't good enough for a team in League 1.

Bebeto, Romario, Dunga, Rai, Tafferel etc were fine with it.

  17. It'll be incredible if,after Poyet was the man lined up but had betrayed trust placed in him,( if that's what has happened?), yesterday afternoon,we are able to announce the appointment of the right person for the job less than 24 hours later. Just hope it isn't a temporary stop gap.

Unfortunately we have become accustomed to failure of epic proportions......'The Sunderland way' of running a football club now is just a well known little saying connected with our club as 'The famous Roker Roar'

    Crazy suggestion, perhaps.

Should we start giving bits of news their own posts?

This thing is getting a bit difficult to navigate when there is 40+ pages a day.
