I’d like to think if Sartori and Poyet are good friends as people say that if we get promoted they will give poyet some decent funds to spend. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him try and bring bridcutt in during jan. What I also like about poyet is he isn’t a yes man. If he becomes pissed off with sartori/new owners/ Donald or methven we will soon hear about it! If we were in prem I wouldn’t want him back but I think poyet should be excellent at this level. A different league to parkinson

Thought I'd look at the reason for his departure. The headline was one victory in 12 but when you look at the comments most Sunderland fans were angry towards the players for hounding a manager out. It seemed a bit like a player power senario sadly. Those players seemed to force a few managers out of the job.

Now that the manager is sorted, does anyone know of any South American 'wonderkids' who will be coming over in Jan to skirt round the salary cap?

Years since I played footy manager games so I'm way out of touch.

The biggest plus about Poyet for me is the positive relationship he should have with Sartori. We all know Gus can be a good manager but it may take time to get the football to the level he wants.

I have no doubts he would get us up out of this league this season, but the Championship will be tough and realistically we are going to be there for a few years. We have been crying out for a long term manager forever and this might be the chance. Hopefully Sartori will give Gus both time and resources to build something and create a team with an identity that can look towards the Premier League.

This is maybe our chance to finally stop the short terminism and create something.

Looking at some of the SAFC Facebook forums every possible new manager has already been written off as ****e..

They finished 4th in his last season. Lost in the play offs. He was dismissed that summer. That **** is it? I'd snap your hand off to be 4th in the championship.

For some reason the top managers are currently employed in the Premier League ...

... we should be agreeing compensation with Liverpool right now.

I'd like to think so, but we as fans do have a nasty habit of turning quickly. Some like Parky and Howard Wilkinson fully deserve it, but others have been turned on very quickly iff things were a little dodgy . I'm thinking PDC, and Bruce as examples. Personally think Bruce may have turned things around, but he got it into his head that the majority of fans were against him and his whole attitude changed.

Pretty much the same on here, though innit? Although, admittedly, I've done it myself. The only one that hasn't been dismissed as ****e is Paul Cook.

Anyone think Paul Cook is ****e?

Years ago I called in on one of my match going mates. He was dressed to the nines early on a Thursday evening, I asked him what the occasion was and where he was going, eventually got it out of him, he had dressed up as it was a special occasion. The occasion was that he was Blackpool manager on championship manager, and that he had got them to the FA cup final. I think I was doubled up on his floor for best part of an hour.

The vast majority of fans were blaming the players, quite rightly so as they weren't turning up and playing. There was also alot wrong at the club at the time as Gus alluded too. Gus definitely played his part in all that but as I said in a previous post the manager is often a small piece of the jigsaw and the rest of the puzzle was very wrong. I for one will 100% back him coming back but we have to be sure the rest of the puzzle is better this time too!

Not ****e but I'm not excited by him as a manager. Those in favour of him put forward that his prize asset is getting the best out of Grigg - a prize asset for me is getting RID of Grigg.

If it is Poyet I’d be positively delighted. To be able to get a manager of his calibre given where we are is a fantastic coup for the club.

I'd expect an influx of Uruguayan players, a bit like Wolves and Portuguese players. No bad thing if they are good..

Watching this with interest but a serious question for you and those at WMS that has been avoided on every occasion when its been put...... It is well documented that both RR and WMS were given information that the club had or was about to be taken overby FPP. ALS had the temerity to even print these
    SunDELLand T-shirts.
I would like to ask you directly, as you must know this being a integral part of WMS, just Who from the club(the actual person) who informed you that FPP were about to become the new owners?????? Anytime today would be appreciated.

My hope is that with Sartori as his mate he will always have his back. Not sell players behind his back and support him with recruitment. It was clear both him Congerton didn't see the same vision. Poyet pushed for Marcus Alonso on a permanent. Look how much we could have made if we bought and sold him.
