Eddie Howe for me. If not Howe I'd be looking around Europe for an up and coming coach to work with a DoF, not sure who that would be though. Hopefully the Agency that is reported to be screening for a good DoF comes up with the best person available.
Do you not think this position will already be filled? I think the DoF will be sorted, the manager will know and the new owners are just waiting for a suitable time to announce their plans.
I voted for Cook but would be happy with Poyet too. I want a manager who plays attractive football and who will invest time in the youth players. To me the most important thing we need now is a coach who can improve players and build confidence. I think both are capable of that.
The fact that we are about the only club ever to have a suspension extended because we appealed a obviously wrong red card. On that basis they might even relegate us to the Wearside League if we go £1 over the cap.
Donald's tried the cheap option and look where we are now. You get what you pay for, and if the new owners feel that they will get value for money, it's their call. We have little in saleable assets left on the pitch, so money will have to be spent, and I would imagine that the new owners will know that they will need to speculate to accumulate to a certain extent. I do agree that we should be going nowhere near the amounts of money that was lavished under Short, mind.
I think that the most pressing question to be asked of any potential manager should be “We read the message boards intently and notice that the one thing that the supporters identify in any new managerial appointment is that when the team are losing is that the manager doesn’t have a ‘plan B’. So, in your own words tell us if you possess a plan B and more importantly in the advent of your dismissal would be prepared to leave it at the club so we can give it to the next manager”.
Be interesting to see what he would do with no money to spend. Brought in 38 players when he was here
I think he'd do a great job. Not much money (if any) needs to be spent this season and then it could be reassessed next season if you got promoted. Depends how much the potential new owners are prepared to invest. Nice for the North East to have some optimism. Shame its the wrong club (IMO)
Personally, I am not stuck on the bloke, admittedly he does a great job on TV and I laugh along with everyone else. What sticks in my mind is he had a falling out with Short and walked, fell out with the Irish FA and walked at a very important time so therefore, I have reservations about his temperament and how long it would be before he fell out with whoever is going to be in charge here. Sacked by Ipswich. That's my take on Keane, but would back 100% if he was to become the next manager.
if i win the euros tonight i will become a huge share holder bring Sam in let him sign who he wants, extend the SOL to 70,000 plus escalators and lifts ( i used to be knackered by the time i got to the top of the west stand stairs concourse !), build a massive multi storey carpark, season cards would start at about £200, there would be platinum membership boxes meaning you get into every event at the SOL , concerts, champions league etc, create 1000's of jobs. Well i can dream i suppose.
My concern is the league wage structure extends to management and coaching staff. That will knacker us on a lot of decent targets.
Still want Howe but big Sam failing that. More realistically Cook or someone who will entertain us again.
