I wouldn't be against Poyet either. I wouldn't be dead against Pearson if he could bring all of the staff he had at Leicester because I think that's where the success came from. They obviously worked well as a team. I think that Steve Walsh has a cushy job in the MLS though, so it may not be that easy to bring him back.

That's right. I've got his stint at Southampton all wrong there.

Without trying to knock any choices for manager I think the appointment of the DoF is much more important at the moment as they will be the one setting the direction of the club. We need somebody to give us a clear direction and strategy that the manager can buy into. Somebody who will clean the slate and start again get rid of almost everybody that is not needed and drill down on every position at the club to ensure the best person available is in place this will then give the manager the time space and confidence to concentrate more of his efforts on first team affairs as he will know whats below him can do their jobs. Look at managers of top teams now Klopp Pep Mourinho Nagelsmann Hasehutl they all have a great team behind them from conditioning coaches first team coaches doctors everything is the best that they can get to ensure success.

wouldn't say he's been a disaster since. His record at Watford was brilliant. Obviously I don't know what happened to get him the sack, which is a concern, but at the time I genuinely think Watford were desperate and thought new manager bounce would work again.

They were 7 points off 19th when he was appointed in December and when he was sacked with 2 games left they were 3 points above relegation zone. Wouldn't call that a disaster.

We could end up with anyone here. For me though I just want someone with the ability to get across to the players what is acceptable in terms of effort, balanced with the amount of arrogance needed to believe we should be blasting our way through this league.

Pearson has got an edge about him and an arrogance and frankly he comes across as a cock.

But most players who've played for him think he walks on water.

He seems the kind that galvanizes those around him but others hate.

I think he'd be a superb appointment and he's exactly what we need. No doubt it will end in tears, but hopefully will be fun along the way and we'll be crying further up the football ladder than further down it.

Totally agree with this. If you look at Barcelona, they rarely go for managers with experience. Their main priority is getting in someone who will work well with the club's structure and set up. And that's all set by people further up the chain. That's what we need a DoF to do.

100%. I'm championing Pearson but if the DoF / Sporting Director is a good one and knows what he wants, and it's not Pearson, I'll back them to the hilt.

I don't really have a dog in this fight. I'll give whoever it is the full support. The only way any new manager won't get that is if its a significantly underwhelming appointment like Parkinson and I just can't see that.

Thinking about it, the whole set up is more important. I'm excited by the thought of a long-term project. I think whoever it is, will be part of that. I'll be able to get behind anyone (even Pearson :emoticon-0105-wink:) if there's a clear structure and direction.

Agree wholeheartedly. The DoF will be the one to determine our future and we are running out of time to ensure the continued fans support in the event of another bad managerial choice. I can only hope that if a manager is announced, it's with the blessing of the new DoF who will be announced later.

Gus as Dof with O'Shea as manager, obviously know each other although no idea if their views are aligned. O'Shea currently first-team coach at Reading who have had a decent season (although tailing off a bit now). Both know the club and would command respect.

Whoever gets the job will get a fair crack of the whip by the vast majority of fans, hopefully it’s someone who’ll excite us but for now I’m just relieved Parkinson’s gone.

I would add "And be good at what they do" to that list.

Moyes had those 3 qualities but was also useless.

Don't take my word for this but I was told Poyet had agreed to take the job and Parkinson was caretaker while Poyet sorted his staff, etc.

He put money on Poyet at 12-1 so he must be confident.

I'm off out now so won't be able to respond to any questions.

Aye I agree on the Respect thing. The players that we've got at the moment could really do with having someone who's played the game to a higher level and commands respect.
