Just watched BBC look North morning news bulletin on BBC Breakfast and it was the 4th headline. When the mags takeover was going on if Amanda stavely farted there was a BBC reporter outside st James park reporting on it on the first headline.
Was Poyet on the list of managers who since departing said there was something wrong at the club that he couldn’t put his finger on? If so, hope he’s got it sussed now. Found it, ‘There’s something inside Sunderland, something at its very core,” he says. “It’s hard to explain but there’s a way of life, something deep down, that makes it difficult to fulfil its potential. Niall Quinn criticised me for saying so but later talked about ‘gremlins’; then Paulo Di Canio talked about that moment when you get your head above the parapet and … bang! There’s something there, something I couldn’t find. If I knew what it was I’d say but I don’t. But it’s there and needs to be changed at the root.’
Lets just suck it in and be patient, hopefully we are about to become ****ing box office in the next few years
It would be the club itself, that would appoint the DOF, manager, staff but the DOF would say who he wants. That's why you need a proper structure at the club with a board, chairman and CEO .... ... something we haven't had for too long.
Listening to TS while driving last night and they said that its never a coincidence that when unemployed managers start making media appearances after having time out they are soon to get a new gig, this is generally the case. The 2 recent managers that have done this is Gus Poyet and Eddie Howe (they were talking about Eddie Howe for Celtic last night)...they have both been doing a bit punditry in the last few weeks
Yes, its always obvious when a premier league managers contracted period of silence is over as they appear on MNF straight after. Pochettino being a recent example. "Come and get me"
My choice would be Pearson & Phillips, I think Poyet is coming but maybe not manager/first team coach, at least the first step is complete though in getting rid of that outdated waste of a manager
Imagine Poyet as DoF with Pearson and SKP management team. Certainly couldn’t knock the ambition. Probably be three blokes we’ve never heard of from European or South American football but that’s at least a different direction.
I reckon the club is more likely to announce anything before CH reveals anything new. Unless you know something I don’t!
I’ve said it on another thread, but I don’t care who comes in, but the whole ethos of the club has to change and that is driven from the very top but applied from the bottom up (oooh errr missis!) Everybody at the club be it Doris the tea lady, Abdul the lift technician or Kyril the boss needs to be on the same page. When they are then the sky really is the limit.
Did not say we should hire them just said I could not argue with the reasoning that they consistently do well with a good set up. I did not mean we could or should try and poach their recruitment team. However the model they use along with other teams like Wolves RB Leipzig Southampton Leicester among others should not be ignored as it seems to work well and allow you to build a team and an identity
