He didn't name names but in an interview he said the signings were not 1st, 2nd or often 3rd choices.

What about Bridcutt though? He was a big fan of his. Surely he was first choice?

I can't remember about him to be honest. I know he had him at Brighton. I just remember Bridcutt because of that thing he said about signing him even if he was manager of Real Madrid.

I said last night and I'll say it again, new owners want to win us over, replace the red seats with pink ones.

No idea mate but I dont think either way you can get too stuck up on the odd poor signing. Alex Ferguson got more wrong than he did right.

Plus the more I think about it the more Poyet makes sense. He has managed league one before and stormed the league with what was a very poor team when he took over. He knows what it takes to get out the league and he gets his teams playing good football.

I am signing off with a Macallan, freshly opened. It was a Christmas bottle, bought a year ago to share with my father in law. That cant happen but I can celebrate this new start in a bit of style. Remember folks, we are now on an upward curve and lets give all new appointments our support - when we all pull in the same direction we are an irresistible force...

    No, you're right there.
I think he'd be a good fit as manager. Don't really see him as DoF though.

The best football I've seen in recent years was when we outplayed Man Utd at Old Trafford, sorry can't remember the year, there was one passing move and it was Harlem Globetrotters stuff which ended up with Borini hitting the bar. It would have been goal of the decade for us.

Pretty sure Poyet was managing us then, the season after wasn't great as we know but pretty sure Poyet's hands and pockets were tied.

Things are definitely moving in the correct direction, unwanted manager out the door, new owners coming in with money, vision and ambition. Just one problem, our footballers aren't very good, but seem to like the idea of playing for Sunderland, we go up, they're out the door. I just hope they at least try for the next manager. as always FTM.

Just been listening to the what the falk podcast with Poyet, reminded me of some good times. Sounds like that summer ahead of his second season was a bit of a shambles to say the least, he maybe could have done better but his hands were certainly tied.

Buckley and Bridcutt were in the January window, his first one, and were relatively cheap and were players he knew and trusted, can understand why he went for them.

Dunno if I'm fully on board the gus bus but there's probably worse options.
