Nearly all managers time ends in a negative way, even for some of the top world class managers. I don't know if they just become stale and bored by it all, have too much money and lose their passion for the game. As long as it's someone who has real talent as a manager I'm not bothered what nationality they are.
Because poyets signings were so great, that we want him directing our strategy? No thanks. Slightly off topic, but what happened to Kevin ball? I know he's club ambassador but what does he actually do? I'd get him running the academy of I was the new owners
Don't drag me into the slaging off of members .i was just saying these have come in and done brilliant
Yeah, I could see the logic in that mind mate and I wouldn’t be averse. We need a good man in. To be fair it might be a head coach rather than a Manager. Not ITK at all
You stated 17 clubs didn't think they were good enough. That's supposition. I raised the possibility that they may not have wanted some of those jobs. I didn't say that they didn't want them, I suggested it as a possibility. I'm really not sure what your problem is. They're not going to get the job, so why does it matter? You don't agree that they'd be a good choice, that's fine.
I think we have to remember managers are just part of a giant jigsaw puzzle. If the pieces arnt right around them things will go wrong. Poyet didn't have good luck with the recruitment for him and ended up with 3rd and 4th choice players, same for Ross. Both done well with what they had for a period and then it went sour. Ross was one Josh Maja away from promotion. That was the difference between being looked upon in bad light to what could have been an immediate promotion and chance to continue his own development. This choice has to be right but more importantly everything around it has to be as well
I'd be saying to Bally go back to welcoming people into the hospitality areas and keeping him as far away from the young players as possible
I completely agree with you when it comes to Poyet. Although Congerton will have had a big hand in recruitment, Poyet was the one picking the likes of Bridcutt, Buckley, and likely some of the South Americans. He gave us some wonderful memories but I don’t understand the clamour for him to return. There’d be a feel good factor which we clearly all need, but I’m not convinced that he would be a good option in the longer term.
If we're looking for a new setup with sporting director that has to be the key appointment surely? They'll then be bringing in a manger who will work with them and share their ethos. Definitely a few interesting days/weeks ahead!
I don't think Buckley was who he really wanted and neither were many others. It was a case of Congleton wouldn't buy who he wanted and at 4 or 5th choice he went for players he knew rather than completely random Di Fanti types
