I know the defeat today is not too significant in the greater scheme of things shown by our manager’s selection of a virtual second string side in order to keep the troops happy and provide them with the opportunity to claim a place in the first team squad at the expense of possibly not drawing a Premier League team in the next round. Peterborough seemed to have shown the same outlook! My main concern is that our manager continues, match after match, to bemoan the wastefulness in front of goal! Every team from Premier League downwards is desperate for a goal scorer and they don’t come cheap! It has been apparent to me that we have not been totally convincing in our run of victories in our March to the top of the league as many an away manager has commented. The overall standard of strikers in League 1 is woeful and only Peterborough’s superman Clark ‘Kent’ Harris seem to fly above every one else. Instead of complaining about our frugality in front of the onion bag, bring in an established, experienced striker in January, who knows where the goal is, can hold the ball up, can bully the opposition defences and score those elusive goals to stop our manager coming out with the same post match mantra.
You do know alcohol is a drug right ? Just because it might be your drug of choice doesn't mean it's not a drug
Or Nikica Jelavić's. Getting caught offside is all part of the game of course but I always view repeat offenders as thick xxxxs. I think most must have left school at 12yo.
Today he probably found out a lot about himself, the league he should be playing in. It's the one below Stevenage.
I suggest the club fine players £100 if caught offside, proceeds to charity. Should raise a bomb for good causes.
Enjoyed the first half but the longer it went on the more frustrated I got, some on here have mentioned bringing Samuelson into the first team unfortunately he is no way consistent enough and it's a shame because he has the skill but for me not the heart, Also still think we need much more from Scott, I have more hope for him with a run of games but so far overall much improvement needed. Today was a compete team change apart from one, shame we won't be involved in tomorrow's draw but for me even though it's a disappointment the league is much more important.
Re Scott.... this is where I'm prepared to be shot down. He's 6 foot 2... He's mobile He's quick footed He's a big unit Would it be worth (never going to happen I suspect) of making him the option to Magennis... is he wasted being played wide...?
Having watched all of our games I feel pretty comfortable that we're not in a false position in the league. How about you? Yes, we could score more goals but what team couldn't?
Both our teams were beaten today with mine a comprehensive 6-0 loser. Hoped that this year we could have played a cup match together but it was not to be.
it's sad to lose penalties, but it's old rule well known long ago. Hard to score two penalties for the same player. Eaves scored and he missed later. He shouldn't be kicking second one i think. Let's see what's next! More matches are coming. It's easy to fix things in that game. Life is going on.
2 out of 3 you were right, though I wish Samuelson hadn't, apart from getting the penalty he was poor. Eaves was average, held the ball up well, but other than that was nothing special. Batty for me was the best of our players, I thought Meyer was unlucky to get subbed, as he was having an okay game. Coyle was okay, but Terry made a mistake IMO trying to include 3 centre backs in the team, McLoughlin was like a fish out of water at left back he should have started Fleming. Overall a poor performance, no one other than possibly Batty and maybe Alfie Jones would step in for Burke if he is still out with his nose problem, would trouble the first eleven for a starting place.
Should have started with McLoughlin central and Fleming left back and Jordy left back in the changing room.
