Darren Pratley is a Charlton Athletic hero right now. The perfect battling player that we need. God forbid he catches Coronavirus. That goes for every other player. One death of a relative or loved one will be one too many against the 'need' to finish this season.
I believe he is absolutely key to our results. He played against Hull and QPR. But we can't expect him to play weekend / midweek / weekend until the end of the season. So do we use him just for 'critical' games? (rest him tomorrow so he's good for Friday)
What a fantastic signing he has turned out to be. I thought he actually improved as a player in the Championship last season playing against better teams. Not only versatile, but excellent fitness (I think LB called him the fittest player at the club) and consistent 8/10 performances every week. It was interesting to hear Albie Morgan pay tribute to Pratters after the game yesterday. I’m sure the club will offer Darren a coaching role when he eventually hangs up his boots.
Hi chaps I thought I would give the new 'Darren Pratley Appreciation Thread' a little depth by merging it with the two other 'Darren Pratley' threads from our archives. Hope nobody minds...
A credit to his profession. At 35 he's learned to cut out the yellows too. In the tradition of Jacko and SCP an all round good guy, proper Charlton.
Atm he has to be ahead of Watson As the holding midfielder. Watson is a clever player with a good first touch, but our midfield can be sluggish, and Pratley belies his years with his energy.
I felt for Watson Wednesday night (after I calmed down from the performance) as he was pitched against a better player and overrun. It happens. Bowyer needed to make a change quicker, as for me, we lost that in the middle.
