What a ****ing diabolical game of football. Only good thing is that it’s over and we never lost. Our attacking player was a disgrace, summed up at the death by Lo Celso.
0-0 FT. Lampard will be the more disappointed manager. We didn't really turn up for the second half. It's a good point, but far from out best performance. Clean sheet on his debut start for Rodon. Need to be much better than that next week.
Take a point at the Bridge any day, though we could have won or lost the game at the death. Back to the top of the table as well! 4 points from City and Chelsea is no bad return and with the EL win as well, we’re doing a good job of navigating this period so far. Need to keep grinding away if we want this season to come to something significant.
A good point but I can't say I enjoyed that. 20 good minutes followed by 70 minutes of defending and nothing else. Long term, it may be for the best that we weren't running about like loons for 90 minutes, this time of year is bad enough for injuries without the increased liklihood caused by the short break between seasons. As I said at half-time, it's probably the right call when players are falling apart left and right, I just hope that's why Jose set us up like that, because it was joyless.
I'll take that every day of the week. A draw away against a team tipped to be title contenders. And deservedly so. I have to admit, they are a good team and if we have just shown we can hold them, it must mean we are a good team. Clean sheet against a free scoring team.
CM really is poor against better teams. Passing out from the back is also far too slow slow sideways slow. Not PL title contenders on this showing IMHO.
We are not title contenders but we just played against title contenders at their place and shut them out. What sort of showing did you exoect?
Other than that stupid back header at the end it was a fairly decent full debut for Rodon. Not an easy game to come into so handled the pressure well enough. Was the better of the two CBs in fact, Dier’s passing was ridiculous and he was ball watching for one of the crosses that luckily Abraham fluffed. The passing across the team from us though was terrible, even Kane fluffed some. Was as if we panicked when we had the ball. Very **** game in general though but a much needed point at a place we’re terrible at.
CM was excellent against City and Utd this season so definitely don’t agree with that assessment. Today the whole game was just flat, Chelsea had more ambition with the ball but they didn’t do too much with it. It was a game that stunk of two teams desperate not to lose and both essentially got what they wanted, albeit the fans had to suffer viewing it.
Do you expect the squad to live all season off the performances of two games ?? About half the games are compounded by 2mph sideways passes from the back and CM that invite mistakes caused by opposition pressing, and no significant ball carrying from CM. You saw the contrast today with the Chelsky passing. And no, it doesn't require Messi-esque levels of ability to do. Tis the basic competence levels I would expect from professionals paid obscene weekly wages.
