I think he should be made to watch looped tapes of Bernard Mannering. On second thoughts that would be enjoyable, make it tapes of right on, archly leftie "comedians" from the misnamed Comedy Club.
What?! The offence stems from the reason that what he said is a known trope that infers the footballers were “acting like women arguing”. That’s the stereotype and the basis for the derogatory nature of the comment. It isn’t open to interpretation, that’s literally the meaning of the saying. So whatever crap point you’re making about gender fluidity and fashion fell flat about three posts ago.
Stop digging you offensive sexist. The society on this board has spoken. By your own standards, you can only sit quietly and accept whatever punishment is coming your way. You attributed handbags to a specific gender role. There is no ambiguity. Them's your own rules, so you should be happy to live by them.
No, you’ve spoken. How is that analogous to society? Man, even if this was tongue in cheek it’s wearing thin. Attributing a stereotype to a saying that was invented on the basis of that exact stereotype is nothing other than objective. I’m happy to live by the rules and norms of society, because I can accept changes and understand why they occur. Sometimes the changes are things I don’t agree with, but that’s life.
Stop digging you hypocritical offensive sexist. You are as guilty as the guy that got sacked. At least have the courage of your convictions.
This lockdown malarkey is giving too many people too much time to argue about absolute bollocks, I'm going to have a word with myself
You've made a total arse of your self with the hypocrisy of your response once you made the same faux pas as the guy this thread is the topic of. Your take away should be to stick to the topic at hand.
Yeah, pop psych doesn’t work either. There is no faux pas, Regardless of historical guff or any excuse to allow such phrases to slip through, the root of the saying is perfectly clear. If you don’t think the phrase “handbags” infers a female stereotype, fine. But it does, regardless of how you want to plea because the basis of that phrase is rooted in sexism. What you think and what actually exists in reality are in fact two distinct things and trying to make out I was being hysterical or daft doesn’t change that, no matter how aloof or right you want to appear. Deal with it.
