At last you have seen the light, I knew you would agree that it was a silly comment, thanks for admitting it.

  2. Oh, I didn't know that! You must have some inside information. Okay, then, you're right, and I am wrong <ok>

As I am sure Wenger will prove this season when he pulls off a master-stroker by finishing above us <ok>

Of course it is! Silly me for not seeing that.

Well, you've certainly put the world to rights on that score, my friend <ok>

Phew! That's a relief, eh! Because for a minute, there, I thought that most of your fans wanted rid of Wenger!

It's great to know that he won't be going anywhere soon, because that's what I've been urging you guys to demand <ok>

Do you really need inside info on that issue? Arry came out and said many times that its up to the chairman and he stood strong.

Does not matter if he does not. The way things are going Alan Pardew and Newcastle will be above Everton in the table at the end of the season? Still does not make him a better manager then David Moyes.

It is. Please review the stucture of management between Spurs and Arsenal. One is clear while the other is not.

I want him gone. Because like i have said it has become too personal between Wenger and the Club. Wenger has been allowed to take up more responsibilities then he should have had. Its all too much in the end. Even Fergie does not have as much control at his club. They have someone like David Gill that knows his way around the game and has power in it. At Arsenal, Wenger is meant to have Ivan Gazidis doing this role, but he has failed. He is a nobody and holds no weight in this power game. Levy does and he has a lot of power and weight in English football. You do not mess with guys like that. If Wenger went to a new club and went back to being a coach i have no doubts that he will become a great manager again. He has two fundamental skills in his coaching that is world class. The way he develops young players and his attacking coaching has never failed him.

Have read all the above but stay confused as to the business of suggesting Wenger put together the major awards winning side

When did Wenger ever put together a back five that formed a major awards team?

  6. Harry was here before Wenger showed up in the EPL, and he will still be here when Wenger is gone.

That's how I judge the "best" manager.

You mean you only take into account how long a guy has been a manager in the EPL? So are you saying he is on a par with SAF? Most people might like to look at what a manager has won, but hey, what's that got to do with it lol

Thats a pretty **** way to judge it. Arry is English so its not much of a suprise that he was here before Wenger. The same Wenger that changed English football culture. Also who is to say Wenger will leave English football before Arry? For all we know the likes of City could want Wenger if he leaves us. And who is to say that Arry's last job in football could not be England? He is getting on in age and that could be the end of him and they will pay him well so do not rule out that being his last job in football.

It was a rather strange point. <laugh>

  10. SAF is probably going to go down as the greatest ever club manager, in history, so that's a bit of an unfair comparison.

Of one thing I am certain is this. Had Harry been given the same advantages that Wenger has been given throughout his long career at AFC he would have made more of it than Wenger did. As it goes, and even though I think it would be greatly unfair (read my various other comments on other threads), Wenger is probably going to be booted out of the club that he tried to turn into giants, having reduced them to the worst start to a campaign for 50 years.

Not really. Wenger did not walk into some dream job. Arsenal where on the down before he came. And Wenger with his links to French football found the players we needed and set up what Arsenal are today. Infact one of the players he found was later sold to fund the training ground we also have today. He used the defence he had and got his attacking players in and he won trophies after trophies. Arry would not brought the same attacking talents and skills Wenger did. Arry simply did not have the links Wenger did back then. Also i am not sure you can make 'more of it' then Wenger did. Unbeaten and history was made in Wenger's peak. Arry would sadly never top that.

Wenger has had a net spend of 16m in 15 years, that just over 1m a season average spent on players, and you seriously think harry could have done a better job? I think harry has probably spent more than that over his EPL career, i really don't think he could have done anywhere near as good a job. Could you make your mind up please, in one comment your saying harry is a better manager because he has been in the EPL longer, but change your mind when I mentioned that he has been a manger as long as SAF, now you have changed your angle and he is now a better managers because he could have done a better job with the resources wenger had, despite the fact wenger has not had the same resources that others such as SAF or jose had. Your all over the shop here mate, any chance you could put forward a valid argument?

Top players demand well above 100K a week and this in most cases is well above Arsenal salary structure which Wenger can not change - it is up to Kroenke and the board. Simple as that.

  14. You are not interested in arguments, only plaudits. Unless I give you and your team those, you are not at all interested in any argument I put forward. I have discovered that.

Your arguments are a load ****. First you came out and said that he is a better manager because he has been in the prem longer. Then Enigma pointed out that if that was the case then only SAF can match Arry. To which you said it was not fair to compare the two.

Remind me how many EPL titles has Harry won in all these years? He has never competed at the top level. How on earth can you compare him with Wenger. Has a top team like Barca or Real Madrid ( who desperately wanted Wenger) ever shown any interested in the Great Harry? PSG maybe? Milan? No? How many times was he sacked for his failures having brought another club on the verge of a financial collapse? HIAG - sorry, but I do not take your argument seriously any more on this AFC forum.

Mate put forward as many arguments or criticisms as you like, this is a debating forum, I just don't agree that harry is a better manager because he has been in the EPL longer, even the resources thing is very subjective, arsenal fans could claim that wenger would be a greater manager if he has SAF resources. Just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean you can have your opinion.

  18. Well argued <ok>

No, let me correct you, there. What I actually said was that Harry will be here longer than Wenger, and that's what makes him the better manager.

I also said that had Harry been given the same opportunity that Wenger has been given, Harry would have done more with it.

SAF is an exception to any rule. He is simply the best manager that ever lived, and it is highly unlikely that anyone will be able to match, let alone exceed his record. To bring him up in any argument is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut - it proves absolutely nothing.

  19. Exactly!

And we are debating, aren't we?

We may not agree with each other, but if we did that would not be debating.

Fine. I accept your right to hold a different point of view to mine. We can do that without shouting and swearing at each other.

You believe one thing, I believe another, and the world continues to go round.

Agreed. Except that Mancini and numerous Chelsea managers have been given far more resources than SAF and they don't seem to have done any better. Sometimes, you just have to accept that someone is far, far better at something than you. SAF did wondrous things with Aberdeen, I believe, before he joined United.

That's the difference between us, I think. I don't mind you having your own opinion, even when you are wrong <ok>

So you are basing your arguement on something that has not yet happened. If that is the case, then Wenger will leave us then join City and still work in the Prem because Marwood at city wants Wenger. Also staying longer in the prem does not make him better. The likes of Inter,PSG and co will want Wenger so he will just move to another team. Oh and if Arry moves to England job then that means he is no longer in the prem. Wenger is the one that started Arsenal off with HIS contacts. He brought opportunities to Arsenal as much as we gave him an opportunity.
