good luck duncan...always liked the lad, head screwed on etc etc scared defenders and i still think with a decent manager prepared to give him a little extra coaching on his final ball/choice he could be deadly.
Pleased to see him doing ok in the championship. At least the officials there are less accepting of repeated attempts to kick lumps out of players. Here in L1 it seems that anything short of attempted murder would just get waved away by the ref.
Would be bloody typical like if he has a great career with them after hardly playing for us. Top lad as you say, fingers crossed for him.
Good lad. Hope he does well there. We just couldn't keep him with his injuries and the fact he was on wages that were probably negotiated in the premier league.
Hope you didn't mean that as a pun!! Pace, team player, works for every second he's on the field and never shirks. What's not to like?
It would be interesting to know the ins and outs of his departure... I like you figure he was on highish wages... what would it have taken for him to stay? Just had a look at the player ratings for Watmore's 60 mins last night. He was not in the top ratings but just below them... a solid performance considering what little 1st team outings he has had. Heavy touch one comment, let's see what he gets after a few games, given an assist for smoggies 1st goal.
You're forgetting - that whilst they have a manager who's older than ours, they also have a manager who's far more progressive than ours!! I would've loved Watmore here - exactly what we need. As @polyphemus says, works for the cause and is a proper team player. Chases everything. That said - he may be exactly what we need, sadly we have a manager who's probably still stick with Grigg, Graham & Wyke! Duncan would get 3 or 4 minutes at the end if we're losing!
Hope he does well. Would have preferred it if he was still here as I thought he was a decent enough player but not to be.
Whilst comments about 'dog chasing balloon, and poor finishing/ crossing' certainly had some truth in them. I always reckoned if he had a long run of games that he would get better, cos he had talent. Unfortunately for him (and us) serious injuries, the last one where the thug that did him should have served time, never happened. As someone has already said the Boro' manager has seen it and done it all... he has seen something in Watmore, let's seen how it pans out.
To all those wishing he was still here with his pace. Phil Parkinson says no chance we’re turning 1 point into 3.
I'd say his best qualities are his speed in short bursts and his aggressive directness, both effective traits. His attitude is a good background.
