For me, it was the riches 'promised with the Sartori connection' that distracted me tbh ...

... I thought Donald would be the jovial knockabout face of the club after the miserable time we'd endured and the distancing of Short.

    Wrong <doh>

Donald has got the football decisions wrong. But ultimately the club would have ceased to exist if he hadn't taken it over from Short.

Am I looking forward to the takeover and hopefully the changes it will bring? Hell yes.

But Donald isn't as rotten as some make out.

I dont know about that mate, he has stunk the place out since he arrived, granted it took us all time to wise up to him.....he has sold all parts of the clubs future down the river for a short term gain......the only thing that he has delivered on is new seats and we put them in for him!

Well it wouldn’t, because someone else would’ve taken us on instead...

  6. We all did mate, and the way they came into the club was,as you say, a breath of fresh air, given what we'd had up to then. The Boxing Day crowd proved the optimism we all felt.

I agree it all sounded great when they came in (after doing a little digging on the backgrounds of the new owners that is) the potential of the Sartori influence was huge. It was Donald himself that didn't make sense and he was the dominant force and most certainly the one in charge.

  8. I wouldn't disagree with any of that,but,in fairness,he did get unlucky.
The second half of the play-off final was a shambles...not his fault,
His marquee signing hasn't settled and hasn't produced any form....not his fault,
    Covid....not his fault.
Don't get me wrong,I'm not a Donald fan,he was gambling big time,I know. But fortune didn't favour him....it could easily have been very different.

Have to disagree on most points. Donald came in with a promise of heavy financial backing and a wave of optimism which the fans felt and embraced. Sartori followed soon after and we heard whispers of heavy involvement in the club. Not sure what really happened after that as Sartori backed away from the club and seemed to provide very little financial support and seemed to distance himself from Methven and Donald ( rumours of a fallout between them all after Sartori realised that SD and CM were out of their depth) and chose to concentrate on his political career.
At this point SD and CM also started to unravel as news about how they funded takeover broke and a lot of hollow promises that monies would be repaid ( what most don't realise is that SD is using the clubs own money to repay his debt to the club which is reason for all of the penny pinching) and as we all should know now the decision making at the club has been poor across almost all areas of the business.
As a man I do not know SD personally but I wouldn't trust him to run a bath never mind a football club because he is fairly rotten at doing that.

Their houses are mortgaged and the £100,000 cars will definitely be leased. As a rule of thumb, if it drives, floats, flies or ****s you lease it <laugh>

What we needed, and have needed for years, is a happy medium. We always needed someone to stop the wastefulness, to bring the players to task, to re engage with the fans, all of which the current lot said they were gonna do at the start. We also needed the cash to be able to keep the academy and coaching staff properly funded or to be able to risk a gamble without it financially crippling us.
Hopefully the new owners will run us as efficiently and responsibly as possible while still having the money to mean mistakes can be absorbed without the whole club being affected
