The big thing is that he finally changed his approach (tactics, formation). Why the hell it took so long is the question.

but it wasn't just the loss of a few key players it was also the manner of the defeats, no heart, no passion, no running and chasing back and no idea - i accept it says little for the backbone of some of the players, many who have now gone, but that is the manager's responsibility to sort out - he failed - I certainly wouldn't have given him another season, not many would - however - this season has been a complete turnaround - the players seem really up for the challenge - they seem to be playing for the manager and more importantly for the shirt and the badge - and as fans thats all you can ask is for players to do their best for the club - and the longer these performances continue the increase in confidence is there for all to see - still relatively early in the season and we've seen teams hit poor form and fall away before - but so far definitely so good and a huge difference from the debacle only a few months ago

He lost the dressing room last season, as per the footballing parlance. He’s regained it again now. History is barely relevant to the here and now and the future.

    : 1002582"]https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/39209/ipswich-town-0-3-hull-city--match-report..

The match report was decent but the comments we're laughable, "Hull we're nothing special" " "Hull we're ordinary, not great" "we dominated them but still lost, unbelievable" listen tractor boys, count yourself lucky that we were "nothing special" last night and that we didn't turn it on or it would have been a cricket score, another set of sore losers.[/QUOTE]

I sort of get where these losing managers are coming from.
We aren't great at retaining possession, that clearly isn't the plan,(meaning to patiently knock it sideways, backwards, sidewards, ...) and we allow opponents to dominate possession. But, we are now so solid at the back (who would have thought) and a real threat upfront.
At the end of the day, the game is about keeping the opponents out and scoring more than they do. We are proving to be very good at that this season.
You would think these losing managers would have the nous to grasp that.

Ipswich fans knew their weaknesses before the game. According to them, they like to play deep, so giving them the ball means they have to move out of that comfort zone, where we can exploit the gaps that creates at the back.

It doesn't have to be expensive, a stake in the ground is more than enough.

Bet you can't fit a horse in the back either. If you could then if it broke down (when it breaks down) you use the horse to carry on with your journey.

I reckon a Ferarri can make a better fanny magnet than a Smith can.

Yikes, that is a tough run. I’d take 18 points from that lot. But by the time we play Portsmouth (who for some reason are the team that worry me the most) I think we will have momentum.

Confidence is obviously high at the moment, enjoy the ride, Terry may yet take us back to The Championship this season, something I wasn't anticipating.

Now that's the quandary. How will we feel about him if he doesn't?
