@The mighty Elfsborg This is the match thread. It’s for fans who paid £10 to watch the game, and have something of relevance to post. You are not only tighter than Bonnie Langford’s fanny ...you are once again on the wrong thread.
Yes He's the sort that sits in the bookies all day, and because he has 200 x10p bets he thinks he owns the gaff
Gutted tonight. Really down. Much worse than I might have expected to feel. Nothing else to add really (not having bought a stream, so not being a real fan). Lost my faith in Lee Bowyer I think. Time to call it a night.
I liked the way Maatsen kept going even when not much came off for him. His enthusiasm was an example to some of our less mobile players.
Lee Bowyer has ultimately got to carry the can. But he didn't make the mistakes by Amos and Gunter. I think we can now forget we are much better than everybody else. We really miss the two central defenders. I only saw one half tonight and that was bad enough.
Fair, not that I necessarily agree but we do have Ipswich on Saturday, Morgan may have been taken out today for that. Rotation is definitely in fashion and has trickled down from the likes of Klopp & Guardiola at the top. IMO Morgan has been our best passer of the ball for the last two seasons and I'd like to see a midfield built around him. The Bogle/Aneke stuff is weird, if it keeps Aneke fit so be it, but then a (fit) marquee striker needs to be a priority in January - any less is not acceptable. Aneke can then continue scoring off the bench with a decent striker ahead of him. After this weekend we go back to one game a week for the first half of December, if we get decent results and he continues to change the midfield then I agree it's needless tinkering. Currently, in Bowyer's midfield the only definite starter out of them is probably Shinnie & on current form Morgan should be a starter - the rest are of similar ability.
It's all about how you respond to tonight. Smash Ipswich (who are on a very poor run) in Saturday, and you're back on track
Lee Bowyer has certainly had his first slating from our fanbase after last night’s fiasco. Still plenty of credit in the bank, and plenty of time to put things right. Aneke & Morgan must start at Ipswich on Saturday.
Wembley 18 months ago feels like a lifetime away now. Shipping four goals against a team who can't even fit 7,000 fans in their ground (rules permitting). There can be no excuses for yesterday's performance. Whatever we had in 2018-19 there's no denying it is missing this season. Too many poor signings. They've had long enough now. We're heading back to mid-table. That wasn't good enough to keep Slade or Robinson in their jobs - even under that c**t Roland. Time for Sandgaard to look to the future now. The January window is weeks away. But there's no point wasting it on more Omar Bogles. Bowyer, Gallen and Jackson are now on borrowed time.
A few chickens came home to roost last night. The defensive horror show in the first half has been threatening since Famewo got injured. Amos had already thrown the ball short to Gunter when he had a man on. And it's no wonder the back five spend so much time tip tapping between themselves when the midfield are up the park waiting for the ball to come to them rather than hunt it down. Burton had done their homework, and so will other teams. Time for planB.
At the back end of our last successful campaign in League One we had a very settled team & formation. The only place up for grabs was Josh Parker’s. The other 10 picked themselves every game. We need to get back to that. Far, far too many changes.
To be honest, it was an accident waiting to happen. The winning run had us playing reasonable football, but we were hardly tanking teams out of sight. Add the injuries we have picked up, and a high pressing Burton, and everything went wrong. To be honest, while deservedly losing to the bottom team sucks, we maybe weren't quite as good as the run suggests, and losing key players doesn't help.
Just watched it. Not sure "highlights" is the right word. The first two goals look even worse today. Have we ever conceded two such shocking goals in one game? Primary school stuff.
