another dismal performance against a team down the bottom with us.a few seasons back when we had a start like this taylor was sacked and waddock brought in ,now we are in the same position again,i fear for waddock now as its a results like this that are going to be his downfall.personally i would like to see waddock given more time but i dont think hayes will give him much longer and if we lose against wallsall i think his time will be up.ultimately its the players who have let him down as they dont seem to be up for grinding out results against lesser teams when they have shown against preston and sheff utd that they can play good football

its a pity if thats the case as i like the way waddock plays and i think we have seen some potential. bull, johnson, winfield, lewis, donnally, all 4 wingers and beavon are good enough for league 1 however some parts of the team are very poor and GW often struggles to get the right system. Waddocks big problem though is his poor susitutions, his contant love of poor players (benyon, halls, tunnicliffe etc.) and his unwillingness to change things. i hope he is given at least until the end of this month, but who knows

We should not sack Waddock. We've had a poor start but most fans knew that this would be a tough season and there's plenty of time to go yet. Waddock isn't completely blameless in this, but the players have let him down. Yesterday he picked virtually the same team that played so well against Sheffield United and Preston but they were unrecognisable to those games. This is by far the first time this has happened.

Clubs like us need to stick by their managers and allow them to build. We have a good one in Waddock and I hope Hayes doesn't push the panic button and think there's someone out there who can do better because, with the budget we have, there isn't.

totally agree we should stick with waddock,no point in changing managers and going back to square one.he has made some dodgy signings in my opinion but all managers do that.let him build a team and we have some good youngsters coming through the ranks that should be first team regulars in the coming seasons

Although i don't think waddock is that good a one i do think we should stick with him for the time being at least.

You have to look ultimately at him for motivating the players and quite frankly i don't think he's doing that sheff utd and preston speak for themselves if you need motivating for them you shouldn't be playing. But the likes of rochdale, tranmere and walsall are the ones were waddock really needs to pump them up. Couple this with the dodgy substitutions and his ponchant for all things aldershot and it does make it a sticky wicket for the manager.

Ultimately though the players have to stand up they have professional pride themselves and i'm sure they will be just as dissappointed. Hopefully the penny has dropped and they realise they can't expect to glide thru certain games and not others but you do wonder given some of the goals we have conceded saturdays second by all accounts was schoolboy stuff

****ing Hell. I never thought I'd be reading this about "The best manager we've had since Martin O'Neil". One week he's the Wodfather, then suddenly maybe we should give him another month. I doubt very much Hayes would sack him after extending his contract; too costly.

How do you think the Preston fans feel, losing to Orient?

I wouldn't even contemplate sacking him. He needs stability like everyone else. He needs to recognise his shortcomings and address them. As already mentioned by others, I also perceive these to be favouritism and substitution tactics. If it transpires he is unwilling to do this and he isn't right for Wycombe after all, the best thing would be for another team to buy him out. Having extended his contract, Hayes would get more money that way.

I don't see the point in sacking him at this stage of the season, as I do not think anyone is going to do any better with the current squad we have, one which we are stuck with till January aside from potential loan signings. The worry for me is goals. I don't see consistently who we can rely on to get goals. Beavon and Strevens only scored a handful in the division below, Rendell seems quiet (although in fairness too him isn't featuring too much), Benyon has barely scored at this level. Ainsworth had a great season in front of goal last year from the wing but we can't expect him to match that this season.

Whilst I agree Rocky that the players have let Waddock down, at the end of the day they are his players, he has been here two years now and has to take that responsibility. However, fair play to Waddock he doesn't make excuses. I have to agree with gravey regarding the penchant for Aldershot players, aside from Bull, Donnelly and Winfield the rest are not really league one material.

This season was always likely to be a struggle, I was surprised by the number of people pre season who thought we would finish mid table or even in the top half. I always thought it was going to be a scrap and unfortunately I think we will be touch and go to stay up. However, that said we are much better off than we were under Taylor two seasons ago, as there was simply nothing in that squad at the time and they were only going one way.

the trouble with changing the manager which i dont agree with anyway is the new manager will come in and clear out players he doesnt want or like then its another 2 or 3 year period of getting a settled side,we also cant afford to pay off waddock and get new players in so i suggest stick with what we have got and give the wadfather time to turn it around.

on the subject of signing aldershot players he has only done what most managers do and go back to his previous club and get the players that he trusted and believed in.maybe he thought that most of them could cut it in this league.

I completely understand where you are coming from rocky with the manager going back to what he knows and clearly he knows these players. This happens everywhere.

But for example when all 3 of johnson, Winfield and Tunnicliffe are fit who do you think is going to be the one to make way? I know and it isn't going to to be the latter 2 even though consistency wise johnson is better than both in my opinion and what about harding and halls would you say they are better than Bloomfield? Would you say they provide anything differant?

Waddock should not be sacked - no way.
He's a young manager and he makes mistakes. However, he's also got two teams promoted and plays fantastic football. Nearly all the players he works with like him, and he gets players in because he knows how they play. Getting players from a wider pool will only come from experience.

Even if the unthinkable was to happen and we went down, he should not go. If he got sacked for that I would lose the minute (and I mean minute) bit of respect I had for Steve Hayes.

The things that are wrong with this club are not the fault of Waddock and he's doing the best he can in pretty dire circumstances.

    In Waddock we Trust.

I don't think that Waddock should be sacked the point rocky made about taking a further 2 to 3 years for a new guy to come in and put his mark on the club would only get us back to where we are currently and i don't believe that there is really anyone out there who could do a better job in the circumstances that we are in.

But i don't buy into the theory of getting players from a wider pool will come with experience. How much experience does he need? He's managed in 4 differant divisions with 3 differant clubs and has acheived 2 promotions to me that sounds quite an extensive range of experiences.

I get the point as well about being on a limited budget and knowing the characters of players being even more significant in such circumstances but the point remains does the players baught in from Aldershot with the exception of Bull and Donnelly improve the squad and in my opinion the answer is an emphatic No.

i agree 100 per cent leon has proved he is a good defender but he is not a waddock favorite and will be dropped when winfield returns, which in my opinion is wrong, leon is the best central defender we have.

i agree js waddock must take some of the blame but the players are just not consistent from one game to the next.

The reality that our players are not good enough is hitting hard, from what I've seen so far:
    Championship standard:
    Bull
    League 1 Standard:
Lewis, Donnelly, Winfield, Mccoy, Beavon, Harris, Grant

I'd say that everyone else can't hack it at league 1 level, and that's a big problem. Waddock could have strengthened, but instead weakened imo. He got rid of montrose, who showed he could hack l1, and also got rid of pittman for benyon, who is also injury prone but instead isn't half as threatening when fit. Even Murtagh looked like he could have been better than Harding or Halls, but he was NEVER given a chance.

With the group we have at the moment, he is still getting it wrong. Mccoy should play unconditionally. I reckon Bloomfield should as well, he lives and breathes WWFC, and apart from him no-one seems to be bothered for the smaller matches. We need to stop messing around and sign a loan defender and striker.
