One site they haven't mentioned is the BBC. If they are allowed to buy the land and develop it then would we be in the same boat as Leyton Orient/West Ham/Olympic Stadium in our objection to another club setting up so close to us? If they build a 60,000 seater on the site of the Beeb the stands would be seen from our ground. Would we have grounds to object to the FA for the detrimental effects on our support, not to mention our objections to so many w**kers rolling up in W12 every other week?

Battersea is the best place for them - I wouldn't want them camped on our doorstop in North Hammersmith!

Would that be viable as they will be putting up the new US embassy down the road in Nine Elms Lane pretty soon.
Cant see the good old US of A being happy with that.

If they were to build on the two closest to us (White City or the Scrubs) we would not be allowed home games at the same time, the police would see to that. This might even apply to Old Oak Common as well.

This is a quandary. If Chelsea do get to build close to Loftus Road then QPR would either be stuck where they are, have to move much further away or ground share with the troglodytes.

For QPR, a groundshare in a 60,000 seater stadium would be dreadful. We might be able to fill it on a regular basis in time, but that ain't gonna happen in the next few years. Until then we will be looked at as the poor relations to Chelsea, who will be seen as the major owners of the new ground with QPR being their poor cousins who are allowed to play there.

QPR need a 30 - 35,000 ground. This may gain more sympathy with the council as there would be more room for other social/sporting development on the same site.

Totally agree with Eamon on this. Although I'm open to the idea of a potential groundshare with the Hugh Grant mob (if it was in the right place and to the right spec), any groundshare with Chelsea would be an absolute disaster for us. Also, I really do wonder if Fernandes and Bhatia are pulling in the same direction on this one. Bhatia has already categorically ruled out a groundshare with Chelsea, but at the same time TF seems to be happy to let the idea float and to sit back and gauge the reaction. In terms of the BBC land, I really can’t see this being a goer for Chelsea as the “doughnut” at Television Centre is listed, and the surrounding land doesn’t seem to be big enough for a 60,000+ stadium. On the other hand though there might just be enough room for a smaller circa 30,000 stadium that would suit our needs very nicely, thank you very much.

We have one advantage for Wood Lane and Wormwood Scrubs and that is we're already the local club, I couldn't see H&F agreeing to let them have first option on what is our territory. I personally think they would be better off in Surrey where most of their fans live...

This story continues to do the rounds. A few years ago I heard that Chelsea were going to build a new stadium in Earls Court and we would take over Stamford Bridge. Theoretically, we could also groundshare that stadium with Fulham and apply the sale proceeds of both Loftus Road and Craven Cottage against the cost. We could also bring in Hammersmith borough as a partner to assist in the funding.

Looking at the map, I see some open space which wasn't considered in the article. I wonder whether Chelsea have considered building a stadium in Hyde Park. Would the residents in Kensington be open to that idea?

QPR need a state of the art 16000 stadium that they can fill every week. Loftus ROad is never full even though they have just been promoted for the first time in 15 years.

And their crowds are only going to get smaller as Chelsea and Fulham take more and more of their fans, the recession bites and QPR go down in all probability

Why not, there is loads of space there? Is Hyde Park not zoned recreational, just like a football stadium?
Any centuries old law banning buildings from the area could be overturned in the public interest. You could get an architect to help it blend in with the surroundings, plant a few fast growing Leylandii around the stadium to hide it from the rest of the park. If it's done properly you'd hardly even notice it was there! :)

In an ideal world I would think Earls Court would be our best option.

I wouldn't be happy if we moved to White City, partly because it is so far away but would also put QPR out of business in all probability, and as a fan of football I think it would be wrong to kill off the competition. I like having other London clubs around.

A groundshare is unlikely because Chelsea's core fanbase is far larger than Fulham and QPR's combined so I would be surprised if that happened.

Best thing for everyone is if QPR get White City and we get Earls Court but the latter is unlikely <ok>

I personally don't think QPR will go down but I agree that QPR may struggle to bring the next generation of fans through with us being so close. As for Fulham I'm not to sure, I feel they could also miss out. They picked up a lot of floating fans (many of whom came about from the demise of AFC Wimbledon and disaffected United fans from London after the Glazers came in etc) but I'm not sure their fanbase will increase. IMO their core fanbase probbaly only exceeds 15k with other tourists and floating fans.

H&F is the 2nd smallest borough in London and I feel that all three clubs should hold talks together and discuss plans to operate in a way that doesn't have detrimental effects on any of us, particularly QPR and Fulham <ok>
