Of course, I actually get mine from fortnum and Mason but that's because I'm a champagne socialist (I've actually been called that, because I was rash and evil enough to be able to afford to buy the odd bottle)
Oh my God, memories. I once had a summer job making that in the jam factory near where I grew up. Stink of fish on me would not leave for ages. Not great for a 17 year old on the pull of an evening.
Breaking news: Germany is advising people to stock up on sausages and cheese. This is starting to look like the Wurst Käse scenario.
Just want to give a shout out to the NHS, who despite everything that is going on, are trying to work as normal with preventative actions. A few weeks back I was asked to participate in a lung health check, designed to identify any issues at an early stage. This appointment is still pending, following an expected phone discussion to gauge my need to go for a CT scan, but the phone call is expected to happen in December. This morning I received an appointment to have an ultrasound scan to detect if I have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Again solely a proactive appointment to catch any issues early, especially as an AAA has no symptoms. This appointment does kind of scare me though, because an AAA was the cause of my mum’s death, which was unexpected as men are 6-1 more likely to have one, hence why women are not asked to have these scans. And on top of all this Mrs Badger is booked in for yet another scan, tomorrow (Sunday) to check her cancer situation. So well done NHS and I sincerely hope that they ALL get a proper wage increase.
Jesus walks in to class & sits down leaving the door open. His teacher asks: "Were you born in a barn?"
Thank you. I just think it is great that, with so much appearing in the media about people’s health conditions being missed during the pandemic, our local NHS is still trying it’s best to head off potential problems early enough to minimise the future impact. Silly I know, but one negative thought I have is “What impact would finding a health issue have on future travel insurance, especially now that the EHIC is ending on 31st December”. The thought of not being able to afford foreign travel, owing to insurance costs associated with a health condition would be an absolute bummer, as the thought of a few weeks in Spain is what is keeping me sane (sanish) at the moment. I still need to have this conversation with Mrs B, about travel insurance, as I don’t think she is aware of how much it will cost for her to have a 2 week break abroad, without the EHIC. Another victim of Brexit.
I have just visited the Money Supermarket for travel insurance quotes. I first entered a single person with no health conditions and received 40 quotes, the cheapest being £30. Did a second search, as a couple, declaring my wife’s health condition and received just 1 quote, in excess of £3000!!!!!!! With the EHIC we were paying around £135 per trip. More than a couple without health conditions, but still easily manageable. Brexit will stop many more than us, making trips abroad, because of this cost. When we know if we can travel, I will contact the company I have used for the last 5 years to see what their quote would be, and then have a chat with Mrs B. I predict tears.
The inhuman monsters who unleashed this on Britain deserve locking up for a very long time. They knew all along that this sort of thing would happen. I reserve a portion of the blame for those that voted for it. Ignorance was no excuse.
