Lloyds of London is an insurance company. Lloyds TSB, the banking group, were bailed out after absorbing HBOS which was in trouble. Gordon Brown instigated the takeover. Lloyds wasn't in trouble before it absorbed HBOS. Can't remember whether he was PM or Chancellor at the time but it was Gordon Brown who bailed out the two failed Scottish banks helping to save thousands of Scottish jobs.
