Fact check The English Government could not refuse the Scottish to use their currency but. The downside of this kind of arrangement are twofold: 1) the central bank that controls the currency doesn’t have to take into account the conditions in the other country. EG, Scotland could be in recession and need lower interest rates, but if the English economy were doing well and the Bank of England decided rates should go up, they would go up. 2) There would be no “lender of last resort” for the banking system. If an English bank suffers a bank run, the Bank of England can lend it money (remember Northern Rock?) but if a Scottish bank in this case needed an emergency loan, well, tough
Fact check Trident needs replacing it's not fit for purpose, the submarines are the equivalent of an Austin Maestro by today's standards. We will never need to use them and nuclear bombs are probably not even real.
