I’m hoping with the new lad’s connections we’ll do better than Jack Ross, Richard Hill or Parky. I don’t really have a name in mind but I’m thinking someone like (early) Stendel, Farke, Wagner... talented “unknown” euro manager backed by continental Football Director with a realistic idea of where we want to go.
No shout outs for John O'Shea? Young enough to take on a project. Likely to build from the back. Familiar with the Championship, and wont bring in a bunch of French mercenaries.
What French mercenaries are you thinking will be coming? And why would O’Shea be a good manager other than he played for Sunderland?
One name that is being bandied about now is Poyet. With what looks like a Uruguyan part owner then a Uruguyan manager who knows the ship could work. I thought Poyet did ok in the circumstances at the time.
‘Rotten core’ John o’ shea cost this football club very similar to what will grigg cost. Yeah he had some poor games but he was a true professional all the time he was here. How many seasons did we get out of him for 4 million?? People talk about rotten core etc but it was people like him and Cattermole who rolled their sleeves up when we were in the ****e and we kept avoiding relegation. We got our money worth out of John O’ Shea. People forget how old he was in his last season. He could have packed in anytime but he didn’t. He’s alright is john o shea
Apart from the last two seasons he was class on the pitch, I don't doubt his ability at all - I just wouldn't trust him behind the scenes. It isn't just him, I wouldn't give a club job to any player who was here during that era. For all his faults PDC got a lot of out of condition players (including O'Shea) up to tip top fitness and Gus Poyet reaped the rewards of that work.
O'Shea was one of those players I couldn't wait to see the back of and although that was as a player I wouldn't be chuffed to have him back as manager. He was still making schoolboy errors on a regular basis in his mid thirties I'm not sure how much wisdom he has to impart.
