Last time Boris jauntily addressed the nation via Zoom camera, whilst self isolating, he ended up on life support.
I saw that it's good news to go with successful trials of other vaccines. Here's a bit more in depth info about vaccine progress and how immunisation may work, long way to go yet. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/16/what-does-moderna-vaccine-mean-fight-covid It may well be different treatment and vaccine programs dependant on age, underlying health issues and a number of other factors. No doubt there'll be a rash of anti-vaxxer conspiraloon covidiots clinging to their flat earth with two moons quoting the crackpot websites.
He certainly spouts some top drawer drivel 'I'm as fit as a world beating butchers dog' or similar. please log in to view this image
I'm not suggesting theres not intensive effort going into creating a vaccine. But when you hear the same **** day in day out for months it gets old pretty quick and were still to see one available despite these "breakthroughs" .
Bursting with antibodies apparently. You'd think as a classical scholar, he'd know how the Gods punished hubris (though he probably paid someone else to write his essays at Oxford).
I'm a grumpy old fart in a high risk category keeping up with the progress as trials continue. Sorting the wheat from the chaff as far as possible and avoiding sensationalism. Besides the vaccines there's been a number of treatments using existing drugs which have alleviated suffering and cut the death rate. Nothing that stops us from taking care over and above the Government rules and regulations here in the Netherlands and will do the same in England when travel becomes possible.
Just in case there was any lingering question about whether the Swedish model is preferable, Sweden has now totally disavowed it. Theory meets reality:
But this useless government ignored all scientific advisers and went for herd immunity from day 1. And now look where we are?
Why is Johnson still working from an office in 10 Downing Street whilst under self isolating rules? Okay, it may be in perfectly safe conditions, although how he can totally isolate in a busy office environment needs explaining, as every office I have worked in have bottle neck points where paths cross, but yet again it is the “one rule for us and one rule for the rest of the country” message that it sends out.
I think he’s sweating his way through a 14 day hangover personally; the self isolation due to Covid is just a front.
I know no more than you do, but I have to point out that he lives at Downing Street....so may be more like working from a home office rather than in an office with constant flow of people. And talking of herd immunity....interestingly Bergamo which was badly hit early in the pandemic has a much smaller second wave compared with neighbouring regions and nearly 50% of their population have antibodies to Covid. This must be interpreted carefully though as other factors are at work.
Came at an incredibly high cost, though. Depending on the study, it's estimated that as many as 1 in 200 people in Bergamo died in a span of a couple months, with between 1 in 2 and 1 in 4 having antibodies today.
Johnson is said to be working from his office in number 10, whilst he lives at number 11. Even if there are interconnecting doors with passageways giving him access, without crossing the paths of others, the message being sent out is that it is okay to go to your office, when you should be self isolating. This is the sort of behaviour that triggered nationwide disobedience of the rules, when Cummings did it, so he should be doing his utmost to prevent another breakdown in rules from happening.
Herd immunity didn’t work as planned in Sweden. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...n-sweden-surge-dashing-hopes-of-herd-immunity
The PM's official spokesman insisted that Downing Street is "Covid-secure". That's as confidence inspiring as gung ho handshaking U-turn spaffer Johnson allowing Cheltenham, Liverpool vs Atletico et al. Test, trace, lost in space, bloody disgrace.
