  1. I know this has been talked about before, but i thought I'd get everyones ideas in on comments section.

We're going to be playing against -

    ------Adebayor-----Defoe-----------

    Bale---Modric--------VDV----Lennon

Just when you're done worrying about their ****ing wingers, their central midfield scares the **** out of you <yikes>

Do we go a bit more defensive with a 4-2-3-1? Or do we truly go for it?

I don't know if Ba's fit or not, is there any news?

    I'd personally go for -

    --------------Best/Ba---------------

    Jonas--------Ben Arfa---------Marveaux

    -----Cabaye-------------Tiote----------

    Santon----Taylor----Colo-------Simpson

    ---------------Krul------------------

I really don't fancy Raylor vs Bale or Lennon, and at least Simmo's had experience vs Lennon before, and will learn from his mistakes last time.

I really don't know who I'd put up top by himself. Best is the more powerful, and is good at winning things in the air, but Ba is the quicker and more composed. It's a tough decision.

    Your line ups?

Definitely time to bring Ben Arfa back, give them something to worry about. Raylor will play IMO but that will be a bad move if he does. Best up top to try and bully their defence

    Simmo Saylor Colla Santon
    .Ober Cabaye Tiote Jonas.

would like to see this bit unfair on ober and raylor as they haven't done bad but i think that might be our strongest team put jonas on the right for his covering defensively the left hand side would be fast as ****

  6. Tough ****. It's called squad rotation. They haven't done much wrong, but squads are going to progress and other players deserve a chance.

Raylor deserves a bonus for stepping into Enrique's shoes and taking on the responsibility, but we need to give Santon a chance, and Ober should be used as an impact player.

Ober has potential but I'd like other people to have a chance.

Santon's been bought as a FB, play him there. Also, he'll get helped out from Jonas in defensive duties so won't get caught out (as much - hopefully)
Marv on because i want to see him play, and he can't be any worse than Obertan at tracking back.

I might be completely jinxing us here but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Lennon doesn't worry me too much. I think they played Van der Vaart on the right side against Arsenal which would suit Ryan Taylor quite well as VdV would be looking to cut in onto Ryan's strong foot.

Honestly we can not seriously play Ryan Taylor at left full back any more though when we have people like Santon on the bench. Seems a tad unfair on Ryan but he is a good professional and he'll tell you hmimself it's not his position. Last chance for Obertan for me too, if he has a bad game we have to look at fitting in Marveaux who just looks so much more cultured. I'd seriously look at starting Marveaux down the left and sticking Jonas down the right to help Simpson with Bale but I know Pardew won't do that as he seems to be an Oberfan.

    ----------------------Krul----------------------------

    Simpson------Coloccini------S.Taylor----------Santon

    Jonas---------Cabaye--------Tiote----------Marveaux

    --------------Ben Arfa-------------------------------

    ------------------------------Best-------------------

I'm the most worried about Modric to be honest, Tiote has to have a good game for us to get anything. Taylor I think is up to the physical challenge that Adebayor will bring, not sure how he'll fare against his pace though.

Be very happy with a draw here to be honest.

  10. Our CB's have been the best pair so far, and one of the reason's we've got a good defensive record is, on top of our good CB's, we have a pair of CM's that are good at defending also. <ok>

Dont get the whole lets change it up theory.

The only possible change I would make would be bringing in santon! whether that would be at left back in place of over the wall or on the right of midfield to help protect simpson against bale i'm not sure! but I would be more than happy to see the team stay the same as it is settled and performing well!

From the forrest game and his cameo against blackburn, ben arfa looks miles away from playing in a game like this!!

Well I'm sorry but I don't get the whole 'let's never change it no matter what' theory.

Not changing it up at all just because the team has got results in past games is ridiculous and shows no tactical awareness whatsoever, it's like you're just waiting to lose to change it and that's not what football management is about.

You base your tactics on upcoming games, not the one you've just played.

    Bale---Modric--------VDV----Lennon
    .......................................................................................................

I can't see them playing this against us, there is no room for Parker. I don't think that Lennon will be starting Tash. I don't know if he is injured but he wasn't involved against Arsenal. They had Parker sitting in front of the back 4.

If they keep the same team as they had against Arsenal, I believe that our best chance of exploiting any weakness in their team would be to attack down their right side. VDV is not great at tracking back and if Santon plays, he and Jonas could really get at Walker. Parker can cover on the right but not only will leave their centre backs exposed, but he does not possess the pace of Santon and Jonas.

I'd feel confident that our wingers will give both of their full backs a tough game and most importantly I think we can beat them in the midfield. The key match up for me is Tiote v Modric, if Tiote can restrict Modric to backwards/sideways passes the for most of the match then that will let Cabaye start to dictate the game v Parker, which I think he really could do.
I also think Santon should come in for Raylor.

    --------------------Krul------------------
    Simpson-----Saylor------Colo------Santon
    Obertan----Cabaye----Tiote---Jonas
    -----------Ben Arfa ---------------
    -----------Best / Ba --------------

Nice and adaptable... can be attacking with Obertan, Ben Arfa, Best/BA and Jonas attacking but can also form a bank of 5 infront of Modric and VdV

I suggested this formation on another thread - totally agree, I think Jonas on the right for this game will cover the threat of Bale, and Ben Arfa in there to pack the midfield, but still giving us an attacking outlet.

Doubt Pardew would go for this though.... unfortunately.
