    Ken Wagstaff
Did he ever give a foul away or get caught offside?
Did he ever shoot at the goalkeeper on a 1 on 1? He'd always go round the keeper.
I didn't like his habit of laughing when he missed a penalty.

I do get sick of this chillo and whitehurst thing
It took him till his fifth season to get a decent goals haul. Going to give eaves that long? I doubt it.
His goal scoring wasn’t ever great
He had one season in the third division where he scored 20
    The rest isn’t good
    ****ehurst 454 99 goals
    Eaves 294 74 goals
Not too bad now does it

He thought the one he has now would make him Andy Carrol, who do you think he should try next.

Unless you count that Billy was shocking until Chillo got to work on him then he was top scorer in 1984/85 with 24 goals, then got sold to 1st division Newcastle where he scored 7 goals in 28 games, not great I agree but without Chiltons coaching he would have slipped back into non league, Eaves is no where near as bad as Billy was, but needs an arm round him and some confidence coaching

Rambo’s sheer presence put you a goal up most games. If he didn't score the opposing centre half had a battle on their hands and as Billy got better and better most couldn’t cope with it.

One of the best rough diamond‘s we signed.

I remember him scoring what he described as a "handy goal". Didn't get slaughtered for it by City fans the way others who have done the same do.

Les Mutrie took some beating for a player plucked from non league. His solo dribble and shot against the Bounts remains one of my all time favourite City goals.

Billy Whitehurst eventually played at a much higher level then Eaves has and he started from a much lower level then him. Whitehurst was playing for £10 a game at a level below Goole Town when City gave him a chance. I heard he was touted all over the place and turned down everywhere, Brid, Goole, etc, before some one saw something in him at City. That is my point, Whitehurst was coached into a decent centre forward. He says so himself.
I think Tom Eaves has a lot more natural talent then Whitehurst had when he first signed for City and there is certainly a player in there.
Who would you sooner have now up front for us now ? Billy Whitehurst at his peak or Tom Eaves ?

Neither would be the answer if we’re having a fantasy !!! Can I have jelavic or Hernandez Long marlon king mutrie payton Edwards waggy chilton windass etc etc rather than either of those two
    Eaves will be getting coached
For whatever reason it isn’t happening
But we can all see his confidence is shot and has been for some time
Maybe if the crowds were in the ground we could support him but knowing our crowd we’d just get on his back and make him worse

Billy Whitehurst because he was a natural at grabbing opponent's crown jewels. Always good for a laugh if you'd paid to watch a crap match. To the person who wrote on a Scarborough pub toilet wall in the 80's, 'Billy Whitehurst walks on water' thanks for nearly killing me with laughter. He wasn't a good footballer at all but he was certainly a great entertainer.

I've never considered Hull City as a 'crap team', even when we were. Also I knew that every time Billy pulled on that number 9 shirt he would be busting a gut for Hull City. I also think he did put the fear of god into who ever we were playing, and I like that.
He was also a lot more then 'a good laugh' as a player. He'd be on my Hull City wall of fame, if I had one.

Chilton stayed at city for far too long, but of course they did in those days. If the rumours were true Waggy was fancied by Clough at Derby but it never materialised. He would have been a small fish in a big pond, at BP he was a big fish in a small pond. Stuart Pearson probably regretted not moving earlier.
