Very true. On Thursday, Steve Clarke proved it. Scotland dominated Serbia, but only had 1 goal to show for it. 7 mins to go, he took our best 3 players off - all attackers - & the ****storm started. Serbia woke up & scored in the 89th minute. They also gave us a game in ET, but the prospect of penalties was terrifying, given we'd pulled off our best 3 hopes for scoring a penalty. Classic example of upsetting the applecart with the best of intentions.
Of course we will get injuries but not hopefully all the best players at once, for example, if Costa or Harrison got injured it would probably make very little difference to the team with Poveda and the Brazilian guy to fill in.
You have to plan for that eventuality unless like Liverpool they are all in the same area, all their defenders. I said last season that I wasn’t convinced with using the youngsters like Struijk, he couldn’t break into the championship starting 11 so why a year on with very little first team football he’s suddenly good enough for the premier league I just don’t understand. Likewise with the likes of Davis et al.
Too much propaganda about our u23s bring brilliant but they are not. Hosannah is being lauded as being the best and fastest fullback but he is at bradistan.
Told you last season he was ready to knife Cocu in the back when he came in as “player coach”. Odious little toad that a **** club like that deserve
Its very satisfying being in the Prem whilst the likes of Derby and Forest are rotting in the Championship. Forgot to mention Brentford, particularly pleased their mind games didn't work
Not sure, I’ve not seen Llorente play yet. Bielsa is also keen and loyal to Cooper. Think Raphina has shown some promise. Also getting the feeling that Gelhardt is closer to some first team action.
The story about Struijk is worth believing. When the lads got back after lockdown the best player at the club was Struijk. Bamford, Ayling, Pablo and Cooper have said this and there were a few more too. Bamford said Ayling was unplayable in murderball and deserves his chance. He took his chance and helped us win the league so is in fact a first team player and has done pretty well in the Prem so far, with more to learn. He has at least one player ahead of him for a CB role and one ahead of him for the DM role and that player is a Spanish International for both positions.
Also cants say without Lorentz not having played for us. Who knows. I’m still not convinced with Costa and less so Harrison. Final ball from both is ****e far too often
I wonder what team The Don would have put together with this attitude to kids. Wasn't Lash only 15? And if I remember correctly, Eddie, Sprake, Reaney & Bremner were only 17. Coops was knocking on at 18 too, wasn't he? And what 1st division experience did they have?
