This is why, for me, this move is more exciting than FPP. Juan, through Rybolovlev, and Louis-Dreyfuss have impeccable links to European football. That's something that the Americans just wouldn't have been able bring.
FPP aren’t out the picture yet aswell mate be interesting to see how that develops and if 1 of them will still be interested or paid off
There's some great lads on there but the numbers keep going down sadly. As far as SAFC is concerned just imagine two phone calls to the same club owner in Europe. "Hello this is Stewart Donald." "Sorry who, and how did you get this number?" "Wait a minute, I'll pass you on to Charlie Methven." Click. "Hello, this is Mr Methven .... hello, is anyone there?"
Another thing as well. If they have owned Marseille through probably all sorts of abuse, death threats and god knows what, Sunderland fans even at their worst will be nowt. Whereas we normally have people coming from other direction who get overwhelmed by the intensity here. In other words they will be thick skinned and that's what you need to own a football club.
Aah, you’ve done it now man... given him ideas! His next tweet will be how he’s known the others for years and is happy to reveal they’ve asked him to join in the funding of their latest business venture!
Agreed. I think it's possibly an ego thing with him. A sort of "I'll go when I want, not when the fans say I should". So as soon as it's all gone through and he's out of the spotlight he'll quietly cash in and **** off.
I'd hope this was the case regardless of who owned us. Bare minimum is promotion and 2 points a game average will get you that. As much as I don't like the footy and think it's too defensive if he's hitting that target he keeps the job for me. Unless we can get a manger of a ridiculous calibre like Ralf Rangnick. Come on Ralf, you'll ****ing love Sunderland marra.
Freddie the Greek is always having a pop as well. Why these can just be happy and positive for a change ... but @Hawyatt Earp has posted a nice little tidbit over there
Having been a director/ stroke partner with 3 others I found out how easy it is to freeze one out if it suits. I took the cheque book off the MD along with his role, the next year he was gone. Business is business etc.
******* hell man! That's scary, but in a good way. I know I'm getting excited, but that's got to be somewhere close the Dell/FPP wealth. Maybe more?
This one, "Little update if anyone cares: “Big plans” “very exciting future” “sleeping shareholder, no influence” (in reference to SD) Once it’s been completed it sounds like they’re going to be pretty open about all these plans. So let’s see... cautious optimism is my current state of mind." To which, one of the first responses was this predictable gloomy shyte from one of the lifetime pro-whingers ... "All sounds good ... but tbf it also sounds familiar to madrox good intentions. I'm all for giving the new lad the benefit of the doubt, he is after all putting a ****load of cash on the line in the middle of a global crisis. I hope he has better advisors and solid plans to get us into the championship. That modest aim is a test failed by supposedly capable business people we currently have "
This quote from the bell earlier:- "Daz Parker lad, NQD, Berb, me etc - us lads deserve stick because we've spent the last few months being frankly complete arseholes, and I've been one of them." I can't stress enough that those people were not all me" Made me laugh, particularly the last bit. I didn't post initially but I was one of those who were underwhelmed at first. To try and explain this to those who found this odd, thurs & fri were not good days so wasn't in a great mood then all I could see in the first announcement was SD & ****ypants still here. The more I've read, and longer I've thought the more happy & excited I'm getting. TBH it only took an hour or so & then I was at the reining in my dreams stage. Other more pessimistic types will take a bit longer, but they'll all get there.
