not too many changes I imagine. Ingram Emmanuel Burke greaves elder Smallwood Jones A Mayer. Honeyman Adelakun Wilks city 4-1 Grant McCann is hoping Hull City can get back on the winning trail in League One when struggling Burton Albion visit the KCOM Stadium. The Tigers were beaten 2-1 by Swindon in their last league outing a fortnight ago but have since responded with cup wins over Fleetwood and Harrogate, both by a 2-0 scoreline. And while delighted with those victories, McCann now wants a reaction in the league. “We’ve got a very good group of players and they’re hungry and determined to get back on a winning trail in the league because that’s our bread and butter,” said McCann. “The two cup games were a great response from the Swindon game. “I wouldn’t use it as an excuse but I’d say the travel to Bristol and back and then to Swindon took its toll, particularly in the second half when we looked very leggy. “It’s been nice this week to not play some of the lads who have played a lot of games and give others a chance. “Last week, we did something similar leading into the game against Fleetwood, where we got the balance of rest and work right. “We’ve done it again this week and hopefully we can respond to that Swindon defeat in the league now.” Opponents Burton are second from bottom and winless in nine league matches. The Brewers’ preparations have been hit after six first-team players tested positive for Covid-19, with more self-isolating. McCann insists his side must be on their game and believes Albion have been unfortunate not to pick up more points. “Performance-wise, they probably haven’t got the results in terms of what they’ve shown,” McCann commented. “They’ve got good energy in midfield, they can run and get about people in there. They’ve got an experienced head in there in Stephen Quinn, who used to play for Hull. “In the forward areas of the pitch, they’ve got people who can hurt you, people like Lucas Akins and Kane Hemmings. Niall Ennis scored a few goals last year at Doncaster. “If you’re not right, you can get beat. It’s no easy game for us – it’s a tough game. We know what they’re about. “It’s important we make sure we get our own game right and we show what we’ve shown over the last couple of games in the cups.”
Matt Ingram says he is enjoying his start to the 2020/21 season with Hull City. The Tigers’ goalkeeper has been ever-present in Sky Bet League One this season, racking up eight clean sheets in all competitions. “It’s been really good so far, I’ve really enjoyed it,” said Ingram. “So far, so good. We’ve had a few bumps in the road along the way but I think in general we’ve done pretty well. “Obviously as a goalkeeper, you don’t get many opportunities and when they do come up, you’ve got to take them, which I think I have so far. "It was difficult being sat on the bench (last season) and it’s not like outfield players where you might get 10 or 20 minutes at the end of a game to show what you’re about. You’ve got to do your stuff in training, work hard and be ready for your opportunity when it comes about. “We’ve been working hard and putting a lot of work into our defending on the training pitch. We take pride in it and we’ve got the coaching staff all pushing us to be better. We study our opposition intently and try and nullify what they do.” Despite keeping eight shut-outs, the Tigers’ shot-stopper was quick to praise his outfielders for their defensive contribution. “I’d like to think I’ve been fairly consistent so far,” he said. “I have to give credit to the lads in front of me as I think defensively we’ve been very, very good. "In several games I’ve only had to save one or two shots maximum, so I’d like to think I’ve been fairly steady overall. “I don’t think I faced a testing shot against Harrogate and that’s again credit to the defence. I just go into every game wanting to keep a clean sheet and wanting to do my best for the team. “I like to think I organise quite well and talk my defenders through the game, which helps them. We’ve all got a good understanding of each other through training together and that’s helped me this season when I stepped into the team. “Me and George (Long) get on really well, as do all of the goalkeepers. I’ve really enjoyed the competition last year and this year and we’ll continue to keep pushing each other and making each other better."
Not a lot really, it just seems to be a confused place: Although in Staffordshire, it's closer to Derby than it is to Stafford. It's in the West Midlands, but shares its vernacular with the East Midlands. It's served by East Midlands utilities and has a Derby post code. It's in the West Midlands TV region. The local train station is operated by East Midlands Trains, but none of their trains go there. It was home to the first Bass brewery, which was set up on the proceeds of selling an ale haulage firm to Pickfords which grew to be one the Britain major haulage firms. A machine gun factory at Branston on the outskirts of Burton on Trent became the home of Crosse and Blackwell and gave it’s name to Branston Pickle. The Unilever factory in the town makes only 2 products: Marmite and Bovril. Craftsmen, known as alabaster men, settled in the town in the early 1300s and specialised in the painting and carving of religious objects. To celebrate this, there there faces in stones around a tree at Middleway Park. They were made at a time before pre-fabricated materials, when everything was hand-crafted and every object was imbued with the personality of its maker. They are shown emerging from the ground, like the first heads of a "terracotta army", referring to Burton's half forgotten past. please log in to view this image
Quiniesta playing for them too! Played some great football when he first came, him and roko played so well together
Given they'll be playing half their reserves this should be a regulation but rare 4-nowt (whatever happened to Happy T?). Tom Eaves hat-trick, off for some more gin now...
They did well to ride from non league and become an established football league side, even gracing the Championship for two seasons. I always liked Lucas Akins, proper old school striker. We should win this comfortably, I’d like to see us take more of the chances we’ve been creating these last few weeks. Somebody is due a drubbing, might as well be them.
Every time I’ve clicked on the City Win, we’ve lost, so I’ve clicked on the City Win, because,(a) it has to end sooner or later & (b) we should put them to the sword without them having half the team missing.
Don't like the sound of this. "Opponents Burton are second from bottom and winless in nine league matches" Tis almost the season to be jolly, saving grace may be that they are not bottom.
Poor luv lkp will at least have company tomorrow when not playing footie... I want to be a footballer when I come back and nothing else....
