The thing that makes 4-3-3 work for us is that we squeeze the space and can transition quickly. Our defenders were fast so they could cover the space behind and were good headers if it came long. Dropping back 15yards just makes it easier for the opponents. Intriguing dilemma
Exactly. And plus Gomez and VVD are really good at playing the long balls up to the front 3 to run onto. We now lose that aspect as well lol.
And I think Klopp will adapt. He is a brilliant manager and he has surprised me massively since he joined. He was known for the heavy football metal football and he brought it to LFC, and then we became a more solid, possession based team which bullied teams and ground out wins. We have played 433 for the ,majority of this tenure but he has also switched it a number of times to the 4231. In his first 2 seasons, we would press with such high intensity for large periods of the games but this has significantly dropped off in the last two seasons where we press hard, get the lead and then take our foot off the gas (because we were so confident defensively).
