Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has killed off the chance of ground sharing with Everton. He said fans would not allow it. Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has killed off any hope of a shared stadium on Merseyside. The American owner of the club yesterday halted the growing political momentum behind a joint ground venture with Everton, by insisting the fans will never allow it to happen. âOur supporters are not for it, therefore it is a dead issue. We have been told countless times they have no desire for us to share a stadium and we have listened to that,â Werner explained. âEveryone knows the two options we are examining â staying at Anfield or a new build on Stanley Park â and we do not want our fans to be disappointed. Everton are skint, they could'nt afford to share the cost of building a new ground with our owners. I hope Tom Werner's words sink into the heads of EFC,Bill Kenright,The bitters,Andy Burnham MP and Liverpool City Council,The sooner a decision is made on either Anfield redevelopment or a new ground in the park and the work begins the better. Heres the Echo version of the story with fan comments included. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...ith-everton-is-not-an-option-100252-29527062/ One Club,One Ground,One Future. YNWA.
Page Moss, you have hit the nail on the head, the blues wanna share the ground, but not the expense We need our own 70-80k stadium,in all red, then if the blues wanna pay us a loanin fee to play there home games in our all red stadium , then thats fair enough
its quie simple. 1. we want the best possible playing surface. everyone knows this is why some pitches in italy are awful in the winter (milan for example) 2. we will not accept blue in our stadium... anywhere. 3. if arsenal can turn a 50mil profit a year, build a 60k stadium and all without our wolrd wide revenue streams i see no reason to allow everton to ride our shirt tails. 4. finally we are not spurs out to do over another clubs we are doing this on our own back so lets get on with it!
Here's the gun, MITO. Now stick your foot out and pull the trigger. Actually Constcrepe, it's our second away strip, so you won't see it inside the stadium.
Listening to radio 5 on Sunday, their so called 'experts' were all saying that a ground share was the only way forward. One idiot stated that Liverpool could not afford to build a new stadium. He stated it 3 or 4 times and nobody even tried to challenge him! It's poor journalism like that which should be challenged. It was also stated - yet again - that Italians are "happy with their ground-sharing arrangements". Yet when you talk to Italian fans they do not like it and the clubs themseleves bemoan the loss of the opportunity to maximise their income.
TBH I cant see anything happening for a while with the stadium. In the interview Ian Ayre gave a few months ago he was talking about a 60k stadium only being worth building with naming rights. Personaly I'd be dissapointed if we build a new stadium and its not at least 70k plus but 60 seems to be the figure the people at the club are talking about. Could this be to do with not being able to raise enough funds for anything bigger? Also would any increased revenue just go on interest and repaying the loan for the stadium? From a financial point of view I dont think we'll be any better off for 10-15 years but I think it would be fantastic for fans and players coming to play for the club
Not really. The image of Gerrard wearing a blue strip is more iconic merely than the kit on its own. Not really rocket science. Dry your eyes. Some Liverpool fan did worse on a Utd thread on our site about Duncan Edwards.
Ahhh Concrete, this is'nt about an iconic player that died tragically, this is purely a Merseyside thread and my comment was banter.
