I hear you - it's going to be really difficult for us and we're not helped by the awful VAR decisions as well as the injuries. Despite this and also conceding the most goals in the league, we're still only 1 point off top spot and we've also had (arguably) the most difficult start to the campaign (played Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, City).

We're down to bare bones at the back. If Gomez joins vvd on the table for the rest of the season we're left with Matip as our only established cb. We're fuked mate.
Another worry is that we now lack CB's with pace. VVD and Gomez are rapid. May see the line drop even deeper ...

I dont need to explain that to you do I. Nat Phillips was close to being sold a few months ago. I simply don't share the same optimism as you do that bit part players can carry us til the end is the season without showing in points. Just read Gomez is out until at least February, as in back in training by February, so possible March return. No fuking good to anyone that.
As i recall i was the only one who remembered phillips even existed before his motm display v the turgid west ham. if you want a lad to stand and head the thing he's your man. lets just get over it. joe gomez is a rubbihs defender anyway. he can pass it, he can take free kcisk, he can run but the actual art of defending he's not great. say is all to me as a cb when he is stood on the half way line when we have an attacking corner.
