That maybe so but every manager wants to leave a legacy and at the minute what is Allardyce's? Getting teams out of the **** when facing relagation from the prem, getting kicked out of the England job. He always complained that he never got asked to manage at the top table to show what a good manager he was so what about this scenario? A team in league 1 that every pundit says shouldn't be anywhere near there just been taken over by new owners. Hell be backed in the transfer market and if he gets promotion within months, a nice bonus. Backed again in the Championship and another bonus if promoted back up (depending on the time frame). First season back in the Premier get into the top half and then decide to move upstairs to be DOF - 2nd season is always supposedly harder than the 1st. There's your legacy - getting a team like Sunderland from league 1 to top half of the Premier. What happens after that won't really affect you cos the manager or coach didn't do as good as you. Now how's managing a league 1 team looking now? Wishful thinking on my part!
Let me guess. You're calling everyone a liar without having the balls to name anyone. You've pretended, for weeks to be genuinely interested, you know nothing and have zero information. All you have is your cringing bias and desperate wish to be able to say 'I told you so'. Jesus wept.
He’s sucks the joy out of anything positive worse than parkie, come on fella I know we’ve had it rough for years but let’s us enjoy a little hope for awhile
He's tiptoed around this issue but the statement from the CEO and the email has tipped him over the edge. He doesn't suck joy out of anything but himself tbh.
None of that matters tbh mate. Everyone from RAWA and Rodwell to every supporter knows exactly what those questions would be. And we all know that the club will answer what they choose to and sidestep what they don't. The meeting would be like every other whereby the club use it for their own purposes. People suggesting the cancellation is the club running scared of a few obvious questions is simply a means to keep denying there's a takeover being discussed. It's nothing more than a distraction by people who've claimed, time and again, that nothing is happening imo. They're incapable of simply saying, 'Fair enough, perhaps it is'.
We've had a few false dawns during this takeover, and I'm not sure why but this week feels different. I'm getting optimistic that something's about to happen now.
I can’t understand why they have cancelled it at such short notice. They would have known that the takeover would be the main talking point. I can only think they expected it to be done by now even as late as yesterday. They could have cancelled last week if they knew it was not going through in time. Hopefully it’s imminent as in days away.
I for one, will be relieved once the takeover, confirmed twice now by the Club, has been completed but only if Donald, Methven, Sartori, Ridwell and Parkinson all follow out of the door and down the road. I look forward with hope that FPP have a greater input but will give back our support to whoever does eventually take over the reigns and has the funds and wherewithal to stabilise the club and with a forward momentum to return the club to a healthier position in the league ,whichever one that maybe.
Parkinson potentially going is an interesting one and a huge risk a quarter of the way into a season. A new management team will take time to bed in and get to know the players. Under Parkinson, whilst not pretty football, he has us in a good position. The players may not adapt to playing a new system straight away and there’s the risk we would drop off as we did initially under Parkinson. Big risk.
Yeah it all depends who it is. Someone like Allardyce could take over and I'd be sure it'd be onwards and upwards, an unproven manager or one with an unfamiliar system could take time. Possible they may want to improve the quality of the side in the areas we all know need it to be "certain" of promotion and put pressure on Parky in terms of squad selection, but keep him on for this season.
That's fair enough and sensible imo. However there are only 3 questions and everyone, including the club, knows exactly what they are. 1) Are there confidential negotiations ongoing with a potential buyer and will the current ownership leave completely? 2) Are there confidential negotiations ongoing with a potential buyer and will the current ownership leave completely? 3) Are there confidential negotiations ongoing with a potential buyer and will the current ownership leave completely?
Parkinson has made no progress within the last 12 months, current board have little to no confidence that he will get us promoted or where we need to be on recent performances (this a big worry/concern) for current and new owners. Recruitment by Parkinson also not seen as added enough value or benefit to the team as of yet..another concern. New owners will want to push their own plan/agenda including a new manager. If Parkinson is in charge and results/position not where we need to be concern huge fans uproar...seeing signs now on social media...new people don't want this problem.
A new manager would have to be already lined up to take the reigns straight away , we don't have a 2 week window to sack parky and see what our best options are , games are coming thick and fast
I get what you're saying but if new people came in, with a long term plan from top to bottom then I'd quite happily take that risk. Even if we scraped up under Parkinson, there's no way I would want him managing us in the championship.
It'd also not go down well if we switched managers and started slipping down the table with little chance to turn it around in January because of the wage restrictions. Nobody's impressed with Parky or wants him to stay in the long term but we are only a point away from automatic promotion, with a game in hand. Depends who they've got lined up and how confident they are they'd be a hit from the start.
To be honest I'm just as interested in who the football people coming in are, as much as the owners. Even if true , not liking the questions is still fine if they were all things like when is takeover concluded, who are new owners, when will vacant positions be filled, etc etc. I totally agree its pointless answering those questions if a takeover is days away. In fact it all makes perfect sense once you get your head into a 'takeover is happening very soon' space'. If your head is in the place of 'there is no takeover , its all made up' cancellation of yesterday's meeting just looks like the club avoiding fans. I know where I'm at and I have zero problem with the RAWA meeting being cancelled.
