Just like Arsenal were, and Sunderland were, and Fulham were, and QPR were....

Is it me or has every side we have played, bar league cup games, been our real test? All the pundits say our next match is our real test, and when we win or draw as we have this season, it was a match we were expected to get something out of! Like it is just ordinary that we are on this run, yet Aston Villa have been amazing apparently!

They have all tested us in different ways. Some matches we should win, such as home games against Blackburn, and we have passed them with flying colours. Some matches we needed to put in a shift and grind out a result, such as Wolves, QPR and Sunderland, and we have done that. Yet we still get no credit.

Oh well, I guess that is just the life of a Newcastle supporter. When we are riding high there is very little good press, but when we are sinking in the depths of our sorrows, we get the full media attention. It is the complete opposite of Bolton. They were riding high last year until they slipped, and they were getting amazing press. This season, terrible form, even if it is against the top teams they have been facing, they could have defended at LOT better. And yet although they get the odd "they are in trouble" line, they are brushed aside as they will "pick up points sooner or later".

Never mind, I love being a Newcastle supporter!

Even if we lose against Spurs, were the supposed 'overachievers' of the season so far.

I genuinely think this is the real test of us, though 1 game doesn't make a season.

If we lose we can't be down in the dumps, Spurs are a good team and 1 defeat in 10 is a brilliant record. If we do lose, we have a perfect game in Wigan at home to put things right again.

Spurs are a very good team and I do believe they will beat us but if we make the atmosphere decent and play our own game and not give in to Tottenham's demands on the pitch we will have a chance.

I think people are forgetting how unlucky we were to draw at home last season with them, and our squad is arguably more organised now.

I think we're good enough to take Spurs and I think we're going to surprise a few teams this season.

The new players are class and have gelled well and are up to taking on anybody.

    Just my opinion of course.

I actually have a good feeling for the Spurs game. With us at home, and if we can play well like we've done in the past weeks, and actually finish the game not like last year lol. Oh and I don't want Obertan starting, would prefer we unleash Ben Arfa on Spurs. :D

Cabaye and Tiote are one of the best central midfield pairings in the league in my opinion. Defence and keeper are solid. The better top 7 sides may well beat us but so what, we just keep plugging away and 'overachiebving' ---which is true if you believe the press --and the fans for that fact-- its what we have been told for the last 6 months so...
Lets keep going onwards and upwards, forget the press, and focus on our good starting 11.

People say we haven't played anyone yet. I agree, the teams we have played are average but what's wrong with that? There are only 4-5 teams that I will worry about, the other 14 or so teams are either slightly better, on par or far worse and we are taking points off these teams which is what matters.

I love seeing people criticise, they should show it all to the players. We'll just keep tip-toeing forward.

I hope we destroy them and play beautiful football in the process. We'll still get Merson and Lawro predicting a defeat for us but i that's what i like now. If we do beat Spurs at home then beat Wigan we'll be on 21 points after 9 games, and we'll still remain unbeaten.

    Mackems
    Fulham
    Villa
    Blackburn
    Wolves

They were teams we were getting beat off or drawing to. We've stopped getting beat off teams we used to and were winning games we used to draw. People seem to overlook that though.

Logic says that on our day we can play anyone in the prem with the team we have now...
Emotion says... watch the match from behind the settee with my hands over my eyes
Buckle up guys... and keep the heart medication handy

This one can go either way and I think we all recognise that.

I like to think of the next pairing of games, Spurs at home and Wigan at home. Three or four points from those represents a brilliant start to the season.

The irony of me saying this is not missed, but genuinely your first test will come with this easier run of games you've got.

Had your games against the top 6 been spread throughout the season, interspersed with easier games, no-one would be too worried 'cause you'd be expected to lose them, the issue is you've lost them all, all together!

As for us - if we continue to win, then our first real test will be the reverse fixtures (to test our consistency)

If we lose to Spurs though, that's when "the wheels are falling off" and we'll be every pundit's banker for relegation again.

If we win however, it won't be because we were the better team, just we were lucky and they were exceptionally poor.

If we are still unbeaten after spurs, we will be genuine second-rate-European-football contenders. There are only a handful of teams around that are as good as spurs.
