The United States, which has an English common law tradition, the concept of a right to keep and bear arms was recognised prior to the creation of a written national constitution. When colonists in the Thirteen Colonies rebelled against British control during the American Revolution they cited the 1689 English Bill of Rights as an example. It was those colonies that came together to form the United States. The original 13 colonies of North America in 1776, at the United States Declaration of Independence.
I know and understand all that but those rights are no longer applicable today, a country with a standing army as well equipped as the US has doesn't need an armed militia to protect its newly formed nation from outside interference. The only reason gun ownership is so openly available in the US is profit, too much money to be made by upholding the 2nd amendment.
Time for change, Biden can set the change in the laws as it will take a couple of generations to remove the gun from their culture
What amazes me about Americans is how they revere their Constitution and how every word is sacrosanct and not to be tampered with. Yet, there have been 27 amendments to the original constitution so it seems to me that what the founders fathers wrote is beginning to look like Triggers Broom.
Reminds me of a joke i heard a while back... Guy from Melbourne gets sick of the rat race so buys a property in rural Tasmania and moves. After about 2 weeks of being there he hears a knock at the door. Upon opening it he sees a 6'5'' inch neanderthal looking farmer. The farmer says in his slow country drawl "I'm yer neighbour, thought i'd welcome you to the neighbourhood. Havin a party on satdee, wanna come?" The guy says "that'd be great, what type of things do you do at parties in Tasmania?" The farmer replies "Gunna be some drinkin, probably be some fightin, might even be a little bit of sex" The guy is a bit unsure but figure why not. He says to the farmer "How many people are you expecting" Farmer replies "just the two of us"
Also looks a lot older without the make-up and our lass (no) noticed the bald patch when he shuffled offstage
