It seems arresting this guy was an act of islamophobia.
The SNP wouldn't allow the arrest in Scotland.

I don't get how screaming 'my imaginary friend is great' isn't on some list for mental disorders, even when it doesn't accompany acts of atrocity.

A simple test for each faith.

In your chosen book's definition, is your God all powerful?

In your chosen book's definition, is your God all caring?

If the answer is yes, suffering, aging and disease shows that your God doesn't meet its own definition, and therefore by God's own standards, doesn't exist.

Humans are predisposed to belief in God. We are literally evolved to believe in deities and higher powers, and even those who describe themselves as atheists often have 'superstitions' (be it not walking under ladders or thinking that the position of Jupiter relative to the Earth and the Sun dictates whether you'll find true love on a particular day). I reckon it's connected to the way in which our mind's are made so as to make order out of chaos, for example seeing Jesus in the blackened burnt edges of a slice of toast or thinking a cloud bears an uncanny resemblance to Boris Johnson. The imposition of particular social mores regarding everyday behaviours, devotional practices, music, art and architecture that make up the bulk of organised religion might be described as 'fluff' but they contribute to maintaining order within the group and their society.

Islam is an inherently-violent faith where outsiders are concerned, but who the hell cares about foreigners and non-believers? It at least promotes goodwill, charity and honesty amongst those who practice it

Perhaps, lets face it, we 'wish' people happy birthdays and merry Christmas, but that doesn't make the words in the so called holy books the word of that God, especially when they can be readily shown to be ****e and plagiarised from earlier texts. <ok>

    Stoned for adultery, aye

Wishing someone a Merry Christmas isn't quite the same thing, as the festival has become secular and remains widely celebrated. I'm talking about an innate superstitousness that we might not really think about, but which manifests when we are confronted with something that we have come to understand as potentially dangerous or beneficial. Not walking under ladders, touching something wooden to avoid bad luck, etc. An understanding that these things don't really help us avoid bringing about misfortune isn't new. I remember reading about a Frenchman who visited England in the 1600s and who wrote about the different plants and herbs that people would hang on their doors to keep away spirits/gnomes/Scotchmen/etc. He pointed out that there was usually a twinkle in the eye of the homeowners when they explained to him what they were doing, and that they were sufficiently self-aware as to recognise why their behaviour might be seen as odd, irrational or outright pagan. Just not so much that they could stop themselves from doing it...

Most of the traditions people follow are pagan in origin, I think we're largely in agreement on that and the human psyche doing odd things to try to make sense of things it doesn't understand.

My main point was the lunacy of following a 'holy' book that even a basic bit of research would show clearly cannot be the word of any higher being.

If the people of Britain had even an Edwardian level of religious piety, this country would be in a far better state.

Human beings pray to rocks, the sun, the moon, animals, mountains, rivers and think statues cry bloody tears. We are predisposed to think that there is a higher power and are by nature a suspicious bunch but as a species we are also equally cursed/blessed with curiosity.

    "What is over that hill?"
"Don't go there, I was told monsters live there"
"Have you seen them for yourself?"
"No, but the priests say it is forbidden and if we go where we are not supposed to then the Gods will be offended and ruin our crops"
"Sod that, I'm off to have a look...…….well it was just more of the same, no monsters"
    "Burn the heretic!"

Is it any wonder that twats believe in alien abductions and that extra terrestrials built the pyramids when we tell kids at school that a chippy from Palestine walked on water and a prophet flew to heaven on the back of a flying donkey?

    **** off.

The only explanation for these anachronisms in time is alien intervention, pyramids being one such example of many.

And I've been abducted by aliens 3 times, so you're speaking ****e.

This is pretty sick but I think it says a lot about how soft our society has become that killing a ****ing cat gets you six months in jail. It should be a fine, to be paid to the owner as compensation
