Have we missed LJ? Not yet no. However, we did have a good start to the season last year too - with Afobe banging them in, so although I’m pleased with what Holden is doing to-date it’s not necessarily better than LJ - yet.
LJ did well, stabilised us , but ultimately failed to get us at least into the top 6, he became stale at the end and ran out of ideas. Only time will tell if DH succeeds where LJ failed, personally I doubt it, but I wish him every success and hope he proves me wrong
Umm guys and gals were on the same points as this time last season. But I would say we have had a harder start this year.So a improvement I would say.
Bit of a hornets nest this thread! been busy for last 12 hours and …………… true, however in the last 12 months or so had the carpet pulled 2 or 3 times! We can see from some of the erratic results playing without crowds puts a different light on things.. from February onward we went down hill … hindsight shows midfield was held together by JB … and since more than once on here moans about the midfield have been rife! very true it was sad but the human race is made up of all sorts of opinions .. good question poor answer NO he didn't but left Barnsley and Heckingbottom to claim 2 … could have said to SL "IF YOU WANT ME can you wait till season end, as i am off to wembglee and good chance to get promoted …. nothing to do with Ashton or SL then … …
This goes down with what I heard at the time... When you look at the wording you can "read between the lines " to a very small degree .. first 2 lines a categoric statement! line 3 results not best required. Line 4 it was not good having a bad atmosphere at match's .. based on results mostly . second part aimed at negativity was in the dressing room … players were despondent at results? and was a self destruct scenario … line 5 & 6 discipline is always hard, we have seen comments on here about players not wishing to tow the line ...sling your hook then! whilst mostly based around contracts etc should a player be uncontent it can sometimes result in poor performance or negative dressing room... how many players spoke out against GJ when he left? PS careful ONE for... ROD will be after chopping off your tail with his carving knife
difficult to compare RR the whole scenario is different … we now enter the "the cold zone" probably wet as well! …..
Do I miss LJ ? I'm a bow legged chicken, I'm a knock kneed hen, I haven't been so happy since I don't know when, We are the East End Boot Boys Nanananana........
[QUOTE="realred1952, post: how many players spoke out against GJ when he left? How many spoke out when LJ left? How many speak out when any manager leaves? That usually happens when the book comes out.
Will Junior ever get a managerial position in English football ? I really wish he does as, with 1For's lobbying, he'll end up back at AG with a concocted position for Uncle Steve. Note to self : Get Paulton to reconsider.
Lee Johnson gave a massive boost to Bristol City's way of doing things. He provided a lot of the background knowledge and methods in training and procedures that helped form the footprint of the new Failand complex. I was a surprised when he was relieved of his duties, at a time when it was difficult for all clubs, with a number of results in those last few weeks of the catch up season going against form. I shall always wonder what would the results have been had he remained in charge until season end ? Dean Holden has started fairly well, and with a slippery baton regarding injuries could possibly believe we could be a few points clear at the top.
I agree with everything in your post bar the sentence below. He wasn't sacked because of the restart results alone, from the beginning of December we won 9 games, drew 4 and lost 14 games, that's 31 points out of a possible 81 points available, that is relegation form and this was the 3rd season on the trot that the exact same thing had occurred and don't forget our inability to beat Shrewsbury over 2 games in the FA cup during that period. "I was a surprised when he was relieved of his duties, at a time when it was difficult for all clubs".
You can make statistics do what ever you wish, why not take it from end of January? Lee was stripped of his centre pin, a point that didnt go un noticed on here and other boards prior to cessation of games pre Covid -19. When you look at the results of some games in the first 4 or 5 of the post Covid-19 shut down you see a balancing of results in the rest. You say "you didnt understand the bold sentence," at least 1 team had a particulary bad "second half" , can you name that team!
OK, at your request from the end of January played 17, won 4, drew 4 lost 9, points available 51 points won 16, even worse. Brownhill was still under contract much like Eliasson and Diedhiou and we could have kept him and nothing was done to replace him, we didn't even recall Morrell or Walsh. It was the culmination of 3 very similar seasons. I don't understand the last sentence, I never said that.
