    Recent watchings

    The Invisible Man- 7/10
    Doctor Sleep- 7.5/10

Both pretty decent, thought Doctor Sleep did a good job of carrying on from the The Shining (film) as well as using both books to explain some of the wider stuff left out by Kubrick.

Dunno if this is the right thread - but a 60-year-old technophobe asks, is it worth getting a PS 5 this Christmas. or is X-Box better? just interested in streaming and playing WWII fighter, tbh. And that submarine game I can't remember. And chess.

Firstly do you have any friends or family you would play with, as that may sway your system choice.

What games specifically are you looking at, or any generic WWII fighter?

Personally I have bias towards Xbox, as it's what I have, but with Gamepass (Netflix type subscription) you have access to hundreds if not thousands of games. They have recently added EA Play (another subscription service but from EA) to this and this has all the Battlefield titles and more.

To make things more confusing Xbox has two consoles out this year. Series X and Series S. The X and PS5 are comparable to a PC power. The S is cheaper, tiny and a little less powerful, but still plays all the same games and may be suited towards those who are a bit more casual

My opinion is that the PS5 is new so I wouldn't go near it until the glitches have been discovered and fixed plus I'd wait for the price to drop.
    ps
    I 'm 58 and currently have a PS4

Indeed. Bit gutted it was only 7 episodes though; I could have easily watched 7 more.

I never buy consoles when new as they will rapidly drop in price and size normally .

I'm told bt young people in work that they're good for streaming? Or are they not needed if you have a smart TV? My daughter had a PS box of some sort that was good for WWII games and flying airliners (she used a WII box as well, as I remember), but she's grown up now and left the nest six years ago when she went to uni. But you have a point - if the stuff I've already got such as laptops and smart tv's already does the job, I don't need one. Or I'll look on Amazon for old, reconditioned ones to play her old games.

    You're spot on.

With PC gaming its even worse in that way. Everyone who bought NVidia's latest bad boy in late 2019 saw NVidia release a new one in 2020 for almost the same price but much better performance and feature wise.

Watching The End Of The F***ing World on Netflix, seen the first series, but as the second series is now there might as well recap from the beginning.
