I don't think a lot of people know what an internet troll actually is. It seems like people saw the word on social media and just chuck it out as an insult.

You can tell who has experienced things like 4Chan and who hasn't.

It was the only one I made from memory, and we scored as soon as I made it <laugh>

Maybe if I save them up, we'll score each time...

I think if we had a team containing Tom huddle stone Jake Livermore Robert snodgrass andy Robertson etc and we win 2-0 at Harrogate then fine offer your expert criticism
When we have an inexperienced rb lb two fairly novice and new to the team cb’s
A new centre mid, a new left winger a new right winger a central attacker shorn of confidence and a centre forward shot to piece confidence wise
Who have all probably not played together as a team before then demanding this that or the other
And it’s not ****ing good enough
Sort it out you useless **** grant

    then tbh I think you’re been ****

    It's alright Chazz, I think I'm a **** too.

Funnily enough, I thought the most novice and inexperienced part of the side, the defence, was the best one.

I would expect a League One manager picking a team from a squad of League One players to ensure that the performance was of a better standard than an opponent in the middle of the division below. Those players will train together and if McCann knew they were playing tonight, he'll have had that lot training as a team for the last week or so.

We won, I'm not criticising McCann for the outcome and I think considering the factors you listed, they did well to come away with a margin that big. But it doesn't detract from the fact that the combination of players put out tonight didn't put in a performance that warrants the words "good" or even "decent. Individuals did very well, but as a whole team, they weren't very good. Maybe in time, as the season goes on, they'll improve, especially if they are the go to cup squad, but I'm not going to flat out lie and say it was a good turn out.

Result good, performance not good, for whatever reason. There's no harm in pointing that out.

A team with 10 ( I think ) changes filled with inexperience isn't going to instantly play well as a team no matter who the opposition did, tonight we won, kept a clean sheet and most importantly got minutes in inexperienced legs that will do those players the world of good and as much as some won't like to hear because they expect us to be world beaters week in week out... That's exactly what these kind of games/cups are for.

But again (and I did say this earlier), I'm not expecting us to stroll onto the park and pan them 8-0. I expect us to at least look better than a team like Harrogate (some of their players tonight were playing with them in the National League) and for large parts of that game we didn't look any better. At one point, we just started launching the ball at Tom Eaves from our defence. Is that naivety? Maybe. But we're better than that, especially when you've got players like Samuelsen and Jones in the side who can play football on the floor.

You're right, getting minutes into the lads who aren't playing is massively important especially given our hectic schedule and perhaps more important than the win.

There's going to be plenty of times this season when our players don't play well and win and I'll be very interested to see the reaction to warranted criticism.

I suppose it depends what you were expecting beforehand, was anyone really expecting free flowing attacking football and a 6 nil win, it's a second string team in a Mickey Mouse cup.

Criticising the performance in the circumstances seems like a cheap shot to me.

I'm not complaining tonight. Minutes in legs, better side throughout. Weakened team, right result in the end.

As an aside, just heard Holloway come out with an absolute gem....

(Sometimes you gotta) "tweak your nose at the devil, stick an ice - cube down the vest of terror and go and do it anyway...."

Totally agree. Think, too, about our young players coming through, Callum Jones, McLaughlin, Fleming, Chadwick, Salam, who all played tonight and all look to have some quality.

Despite an earlier complimentary poster, I thought the weakest link was Mayer. I recall his first appearance when his first involvement was to cut inside onto his left foot a n sent in a perfect curling cross to the far post - goal. Since then, and I have watched every minute, he has tried to do exactly the same and has failed every time. Looks a very limited player.

Nice to see Samuelson having an impact. Please do it again next time.

But against who? A cheap shot to what end? It's not as though people criticise because they hate the club, it's just a valid observation.

Regardless of expectation, regardless of opposition, I would expect a team put out by Hull City to at least play solidly. If you get beat, so be it, but you get beat with your boots on. The result comes after that, because there's only so many times you can play poorly and win. Eventually, you start to lose.

Problem is Holloway has the charisma, but not the quality. He did great at Blackpool and pretty much lived off of it.

It's always great trotting out lines like that, and being a media darling, but if the results aren't going your way, it means nowt.

Though having that personality seems to help get more managerial roles, regardless of how good said manager is.

Colin ****er is probably the best example mix of personality and actual managing.
