I recall Kenny Everitt's gag about Volvos back in the 70s - the way to free ease congestion was to remove all the Volvo bumpers.
Walking through Bromley it's nice to see there are no queues to get into the supermarkets, suggesting the shelves will not be empty and I'll be able to wipe my after having a poo.
Excuse me Lardi, but don't you think you've made yourself look a bit of a prick lecturing me for going off topic on another thread....have you seen the state of affairs on here? I was born with bullshit and hypocracy radar....oh yes, and stalker alarm.
Can I ask what exactly you are trying to achieve by goading @lardiman. I am newer to this forum than you but it seems that everyone rubs along pretty well most of the time. Lardi started a light-hearted "good news" thread and asked you to not go off-piste. He was civil and inoffensive. You seem to be looking for confrontation. And, by the way, it's "hypocrisy".
Thank you. I'm off to get some kip now, got an early start for work tomorrow But I'll check in here first in the morning and remove anything I don't like the look of.
Give us a chance to read it and have a laugh first... Actually, in seriousness, I would encourage you to delete only the most offensive posts. I am a libertarian in outlook and believe in free speech but I expect that those dishing it out should be prepared to take it. If a post is annoying, ignoring it will just push it down the thread but it will remain as a reminder of why one should refrain from engagement with the annoying poster. Deleting posts allows cultivation of a "victim" mindset.
Rest assured, I will only delete what is out of order. Members on here know me. There are only about a dozen of us that post regularly, this small forum really needs virtually no moderating at all. We may have differing opinions on some issues, but we all know that to get along we need just a little give-and-take, and consideration of each other. I haven't had to moderate anything here at all. Until now. We all know there is plainly a difference between A) disagreeing with each other (even fervently) in good faith, and B) winding people up. I've had my chain pulled once too often now by one person alone and I'm not having it any more. I don't come here to be stressed out any more than anyone else does, so one way or another it's going to stop.
Worrying information from OFSTED this morning. Apparently some youngsters who've missed months of school have been losing skills they've just learned - reading, writing and even toilet training. That is a damning indictment of the parents of those poor kids. Not having enough money to feed your child properly is one matter, and I believe poverty on that level does exist. But taking the time to make sure your little ones don't forget basic skills they have just learned at school, or allowing them to regress to needing nappies again, cannot be explained by poverty. It is a matter of neglect - a basic lack of love. What kind of feckless parents allow their children to lose vital early learning like that. A shameful state of affairs.
The Donald and his offspring are now implying that Pfizer deliberately held back news of the vaccine until after the presidential election. Those who believe all his other fantasies will presumably embrace this one too.
