Why ?, give other players a chance , Power , Dobson , and Graham have had plenty of opportunities and do not appear to be good enough to beat one of the worst EFL2 teams why persevere with them .
A bit of a nothing game to be honest. Hopefully plenty of youth in the team and that they give a good account of themselves forcing parky to make bold decisions for the next league game.
Just find it so frustrating when PP says we should have scored goals , we hardly tested their keeper and where was the support for the strikers , midfielders running in to the box - just doesn’t happen can’t hardly recall Dobson or Power in the opposition goal area if I’m honest .
I would actually pay to watch tomorrow night if it was that sort of team. Likes of Dobson, O'Brien etc get game time then I'm out.
Yeah - Not many shots at all. In the first half we had 5 shots with only 1 on target, however Graham did hit the woodwork twice. To be fair Dobson and O'Brien both had really good chances in the second half and in the highlights Power was unmarked in the box screaming for a quick pass from Diamond but he chose to beat another defender instead and then passed it straight to another defender.
Based upon these criteria, it covers Matthews, Diamond, Mcfadzean and Saunders, leaving plenty of room for the likes of Embleton, Neil, Curry, Hawked etc, so no excuse.
Great thread RTB, and great team selection, but to satisfy the selection criteria, maybe starting either Connor Mc who had an outstanding game last time out, or giving Grant a spot in midfield. Even stick with Grigg up front, as touch of experience in the team may help the younger element to settle. We also could use substitutions to rest key players a bit earlier than usual. Parky wont do this of course because he has no interest in the future. As has been said already the result is not paramount tomorrow, but the manner of our display is, and a repeat of the last showing should surely spell his end, it would if the supporters had their way.
cheers RTB. zero interest in result, heavy interest in (hopefully) being able to get a look at how the young lads get on (hetton is such a cold hole these days and not allowed near the training ground/academy, plus restrictions everywhere) be our only chance to give them a 'once over'...so far, every single one has done himself proud and i feel any one of them could fit into the senior side. rapidly losing interest in parky though, has hit lucky with his results so far and while i am not expecting premier league quality on the pitch i do expect to see a team working together and strikers looking to get on the end of chances, rather than waiting for the ball to be placed at their feet...maybe some have become used to getting picked and a little complacency has crept in but it is parky's job to have them fired up (lol) for each game.
I like the sound of setting the kids loose on the tournament and giving them a chance at putting something in our dusty trophy cabinet. I'm more bothered about this one than the FA cup because it's much more winnable. If Parky tries to play the same team as the league then the sooner we're out of it the better.
Yeah - but I probably need to add another oldie as the goalkeeper does not count. McLaughlin is on International duty so probably Grant or last resort - Grigg for 30 minutes.
Yeah, sorry, had missed the point about the goalkeeper. In that case play Grant for his experience because all the young ones will have the legs to save his
Yeah it's always freezing I am an ex Hetton lad - shame that the U23s never played there back in those days
new ferens was little better to be honest but loved a nice ride over there, easy parking, easy in/out, took me own seat as well, lol
This is one of the least important games we'll ever play ... ... I'd play anyone I thought had a chance of improving and demonstrating desire. That obviously rules out the likes of Grigg, Graham, etc.
I won’t be wasting another £10 on this game after the debacle of Portsmouth and Mansfield, I’ll be happily watching the great British bake off with our lass. At least I’ll get some browny points off her
I suspect I might be the same, although come nearer the time steadfastness may waiver. Mainly cos I have watched most of netflix I want just now and the Masters hasn't started
