Reminds me of the story about a Derby game many years back when there was no drinking allowed pre-match. Police raided the pub on Roker Avenue, the Red something, no longer there now, and opened the cellar door. Out stepped a dozen or so lads and one asked a copper if the war was over....
The whole ITK thing hit a brick wall about 5 years ago when the amount of ITK info building up to transfer deadline days was getting ridiculous and the genuine ITK's were lost in a sea of bullshit. RAOS became the term of the time. Since then, ITK has become a ridiculed thing and ITK's were so often wrong back then that now even good ITK info is immediately shot down as WUM, lies, attention seeking etc. Despite all that I think we are generally in a better place on the two boards. The amount of bullshit has significantly reduced and it's generally just links to websites rather than "I've heard Xxxx is staying at Seaham Hall" but we are still left with the negative attacks on actual ITK because of that bad period.
Agree with this. I appreciate the info people pass on but some go a bit too far when reading it and build themselves up into expecting any date mentioned by someone with info to be an ironclad date for completion! There's been so many times in the last months where people have heard info that something should happen in days/ weeks and nothing has happened so it's pretty obvious that we shouldn't get hopes up when dates are mentioned. I just read the info, it's a bit of crack, you can take it or leave it, and hopefully something good will eventually happen. You'd go mad if you kept having hope that a specific date mentioned was going to be the date when it's all over!
Same as that mate. If it happens it happens, nowt we can do about it. Also totally pointless asking for updates daily, if folk that know a bit have info to pass on they will.
A mate of mine in Stoke just summed it up... He said if there's no takeover, nothing will happen as Sunderland fans do nothing & take any old ****e. This from a Stoke fan
Just to add to the date thing and how long it's taking in these COVID times, it's also worth noting that (if I remember correctly) the article about the Derby takeover mentions Mel Morris as having opened discussions with the Abu Dhabi group around May time. At least 2 or 3 months before we were informed that an interested party were 'in the data room'... And that is only just at the completion phase now, 5 months later and still not 100% confirmed. Just something I think that is worth taking note of and possibly a good barometer of how long takeovers can take atm.
Just a webinar where Dave Jones asks questions about how to build the right squad and know what players to keep and what to sell. I hope he asks whether Bali Mumba for 350k was good business.
Disagree. SD wouldn't know that he's outstayed his welcome here if that were the case. I seem to remember the Red card campaign back in the day as well. Ok, we don't go shop shouting, punch horses, have fake burials and trash our city, but to say we do nothing isn't quite right.
I get what he’s saying, but honestly what good would any of it do anyway? I’m personally not aware of any club that has changed hands due to fan pressure. Donald sells when he’s ready to sell. Just like Short did and every other owner of every football club ever. It’s just empty words by the Stoke fan.
